Is There A Way
Is it possible to modify the ai destroyers to fire torpedoes?
|
I dont think so, I dont believe the dev's put in such a feature
happy hunting:salute: |
nope, it's not possible. A lot of modders, including me, have tried to add such feature but so far all attempts failed. Standard problem is that the torpedoes fire north. With a lot of tweaking I found a way to work around that problem once. Torps fired, headed straight for the target but on impact.... nothing, the torp went straight through the target as if it weren't there:damn:
all those poor non-Dutchmen that must be wondering what your sig says, Nicolai... And I ain`t gonna tell them:arrgh!: |
When the torp is launched in the direction you want?
It's attached to the launching unit in a way that disables it's own sim and zone stuff. It keeps enuff to move and that's about it. :damn: |
And if privateer can't do it, it's likely going to remain just something wished for.:salute:

AI launched torpedoes working!
I'm terribly sorry to prove you wrong, RR, but it seems I've just solved this problem:D
I've made a small vid showing an AI elco PT boat attacking a stationary Japanese merchant with 3 torpedoes: http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/c...th_torpavs.jpg Known bugs/issues: - All torpedoes are launched straight to the target and thus are only effective against stationary/slow moving targets. - The torpedo 3d model sometimes rotates into another direction, as you can see in the vid from 0:09 to 0:17. This does not effect its heading. - the torpedoes occasionally dive too deep/too shallow. only problem is, the torpedo launcher has to be manually added to all torpedo-carrying ships, and I'm probably not going to do that. and before anyone's gonna ask, no, the merchant is not to the north of the elco. |
wow
@DarkFish
that's really awesome, I never would have thought that something like that was posible.:doh: by the way, I dont think my sig will be as interesting when everyone knows what it says :yeah::arrgh!: Nikolai |

But this thread made me think a bit more about it and I found a solution. Quote:
