Flower Class Corvette
 

Hi guys,

Do these exist in SH-world? After building a 1:72 model of HMCS Snowberry I quite fancy sinking one :D

Yes, they are in there. I Play with GWX and have sunk some of them (3 exactly)

Are there any specific areas where they can be found? :) My next patrol is near Freetown so I hope there will be something sailing down there!

I see them a lot escorting convoys. There's usually at least one on a convoy. Pesky little things, although slow.

(One of my favourite books is "The Cruel Sea" which mainly takes place on a Flower Class corvette called HMS "Compass Rose". Excellent book and a great film made of it too. It's joint top of my charts along with "Das Boot".)

I shall take pictures tonight when I return home this afternoon.

I shall be building a 1:72 model of a VIIC next week too, with die cast metal figures in the conning tower. Would you like to see that when completed?

(For those who don't know a U-Boat in 1:72 is a massive model)

I'd certainly like to see them all, please. I've always intended to try building the likes of a Revell kit model but never got round to it. I collect photos of some models instead!:-?

I'm familiar with 1/72 plane kits, presuming a Type 7 would be about 2' long?

Of course we want pics! Don't rush the kit though, take your time and do it right :up:.

The VIIC weighs in at 93 centimeters which is just over 3', certainly one of the larger models!

Everything is modeled, right down to antenna wires, deck gun plug lanyards, everything!

One of the best lines ever was in "THe Cruel Sea".

That's right! Stanley Baker played the part, rather a bad egg too, not quite cut out to be proper officer material, and when he conveniently developed an ulcer, well...

A great movie and book which I never tire of watching and reading as they both equally give a vivid portrayal of life on the little ships. I have just taken it back down from my bookshelf to re-read after finishing my present book.
