Wake Island
 
Just saw a documentary on wake island yesterday. From what I saw the island was the site of several battles which ultimately resulted in the loss of the island to the Japanese. However, the island was essentially useless to them due to American forces being in the area stopping any supply runs to the island, and Japan's own negligence.

With that said there is a little problem in SH4. That problem is the air base on wake that interdicts US submarines (us) when transiting from Pearl to Japan's coast.

It would seem the island had the potential to be a thorn in the side of Sub Pac, but in fact it was not.

In future mods perhaps it would be a good idea to remove this air base node.

Maybe yes, but still it was one forward base less for the US for as long as it was under Jap control.

or tone down the air traffic out of it. :hmm:

I would say have light air traffic until laye 43 or early 44, then have it dry up. That way there's maybe some action, but not too much, and then eventually have it an impotent forward base that was left to rot on the vine through the loss of the supply route.
