Changing RFB Hex Settings

Hi Everyone,
Not to put too fine a point on it, I am a total idiot with a Hex Editor but would like to change some of the settings in RFB, using mini tweaker. In particular I want to change gun reload times and possibly other settings. How do I go about this? Please be gentle with me!

 Then using a Hex Editor will be a wonderful source of frustration to you... Mini-tweaker? Use S3D instead: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119571

BTW, before you tweak someone else's work, RFB in this instance, it's considered good etiquette to either ask permission, or, modify a STOCK version yourself and consider it your "own" mod.

Absolutely agree with what DeepIron said. S3D is the way to go.

Deck gun firing rate is a bit of a contentious issue when it comes to RFB! The RFB team have done a great deal of work to try to get things as accurate as possible and my hats off to them, with their ability to research the archives and promote healthy discussion of the way things really were. That's not an easy task.

There's probably some .dat file somewhere with the reload times in it. What that dat file is, I wouldn't know off the top of my head.

Nisgeis.

The SIM files controlling the American deck gun reload rates are in Data/Library/USSubParts.

@Nisgeis: thx for the kind words regarding RFB! We try! ;)

@ridgewayranger: You might want to search out LukeFF and PM him with your questions. He did a lot of work on the gun firing rate in RFB and I'd certainly consider him "in the know"...

[EDIT]Ah, Like got here before I could post...

you can just add my "WEBSTER's Upgraded Deck Gun for v1.4 and v1.5" on top of rfb and it will make changes for you but it also greatly increases ammo supply as well but the point of rfb is "real" fleet boat so unreal reload times goes against the mods objectives.

if all you want to change is faster reloads then open data/ library/ ussubparts/ and open the sim file for the guns you want to change reload times for.

if you want 2 second reload times then just use the ussubparts folder only from my mod and delete all the others, but keep the main pathway folders so it reads: data/ library/ ussubparts
