[help] AA Problem
I am building the Maya and thought it was almost ready until I discovered the AA guns don't work. There are 19 on the Maya. A01 and A02 are US the rest are Japanese 25mm (single, double, triple).
In the .dat file I have slot_A01 with cfg#A01 inside, same with A02 linked to obj turret in .sim file. I have the AA crewmember slots showing. I have the guns on deck. When I hit "man the flak guns" they do. When I hit 'battlestations' they man the flak guns. When I hit the 'fire at will' it is spoken and in the message box. I can man one gun and shoot but do not have a button for the second AA?????. But when a plane goes over I DO NOT get the 'Aircraft Spotted' screen or any message or speech. and I made several pass right over the ship and shoot and drop bombs. And none of the flak guns even point at the plane. Any ideas what I missed? I can't seem to find the mistake. And I don't know why I don't have the second button for two flak guns, so that may be part of the problem. Well, I don't know what I am doing is most of the problem.:damn: Any help or ideas appreciated. I'll keep looking, I know I missed something. edit: additional info. I do not have a conning tower, so it could be something that didn't get transferred to the sub.upc. I DO have a watch crew WCS_01-05 if that makes a difference in not getting the 'aircraft spotted' message. Peabody |
For the cam problem you should look at the connings DAT and CAM files.
They have a camera_cfg controller. You add them in the DAT, link them with the cfg#A0X and set the cam controller stuf. |
As far as getting no warning that a plane is around, it sounds as if you may have a sensor problem? Do you have radar or a visual sensor that will detect the planes?
As far as you manning one gun and not the other, I ran into the same problem working on the PT Boat. I don't use a conning tower on it, but I have working manable AA guns. The only problem is that if I use the same gun in both positions, I can only man one of them. My solution was to use two different type of guns (for the moment). Edit : Just noticed your edit. I can't remember off the top of my head if the visual sensor was on the conning tower or not, but I believe it was. Just make sure you have a node in place somewhere on your boat and assign a visual sensor to the node (O01) in the .sns file. I believe the watch crew is just for show. I didn't have one for the longest time and the PT Boat "magically" detected ships and planes without him. |
Thanks guys for your help. It is greatly appreciated!:up::up::up::up:
@Xantro, I was wrong on that one, I thought since I didn't put a camera for A01, I thought it was automatic for A01 and A02. But it works now!! Thank you. @Digital Trucker. Perfect! The sns was set to 'AI Visual', which obviously doesn't work. (I never would have found that one!!) So for the info of any others that may have the same trouble the sub is set to 'VisualSubWatch'. Again I was wrong, I thought the whole reason for the WCS crew was for spotting, since I have 'regular' men around deck, I thought these were "special" watch crew that performed the 'spotting' function. I'm glad you noticed the edit. I try to give as much info as I can because I know there could be a million reasons it doesn't work. You guys were right on the money. Just made swiss cheese out of a Search Plane. (Since it was a ship with no conning, it had an O01 node just wasn't set right) Thanks again for the help! It is very much appreciated. I am almost done being a pain in the neck. (Well, maybe for a while anyway ;)) Almost ready to put a "For sale" sign on the Maya. Don't worry the price is real low. Peabody |
Glad you got it working, Peabody:up: Now I'm gonna have to go back and check my cam setups to see if I can man either gun if they are the same type of gun. Glad the subject came up, it made me remember that I forgot to double check that stuff. Thanks for that info, too, Xantro:up:
