[TEC] Damage Repair Times
Hey guys,
One of the things I want to mod for RFB is the time it takes for the crew to recover from damage. Currently the game is set up like this: The game gives a maximum amount of time that it will take for a certain type of damage to be repaired. The values used for every compartment are as follows:
It's been proposed by swdw and me to change the values to this:

Depends on what your looking for. Realistically - even the proposed times are too short - major damage could take days to repair. However, the numbers used are really for gameplay reasons - think about it - even "moderate" damage that causes leaking in a compartment is going to sink your sub if it takes 3 hours to fix - by then the sub is flooded and sunk.
If you could specify times for each piece of equipment - then making bulkhead damage "quickly" fixable in relation to the rest of the stuff in the compartments would satisfy the unfortunate gameplay requirements. I like the idea - I just see it as a real issue for gameplay. |
Okay, so now I'm understanding the whole damage system thing a bit better. The values I quoted above (for default) are for damage sustained to the hull. Damage repair times are stored in Weapons.upc and Equipment.upc. Here's the breakdown:
All weapons and equipment have 50 hit points. Equipment All equipment loses efficiency at the following rate: minor damage: 30%, moderate damage: 50%, major damage: 100%. All equipment is repaired in the maximum possible number of hours: minor damage: 4 hours, moderate damage: 10 hours, major damage: 15 hours Weapons All weapons are affected as follows: Damage is split up into 2 sections, minor and major. With minor damage, efficiency is reduced by 100% and the recovery time takes 12 minutes. For major damage, efficiency reduction is the same, and the recovery time is 10 hours. Now, looking at that, how does damage recovery shape up? I could try setting the recovery time for damaged items like the dive planes and the rudder transmission to NULL, since really those items couldn't be repaired at sea (Aces of the Deep had that feature). Anything else that stands out, in particular? |
