Corrupt Saved Game Files

My saved game files keep getting corrupted over and over again. I'm playing a campaign in the Black Sea with a Type IID. I have GW 2.0 installed over a clean stock SHIII patched to 1.4b. I had this problem when using older versions of GW. This is making the game virtually unplayable and I am very close to calling it quits with SHIII. I'm not going to keep sinking the same ships time and time again.

System Specs:
Operating System
-Windows XP (+ latest updates)
Processor
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4200+/2.2 GHz
Memory
-1024 MB RAM
Hard Disk Space
-160 GB
Video Card
-ATI Sapphire X1550 256MB (temporarily using this card whilst Asus card is being
RMAed)
-Asus GeForce EN7900GT TOP/256MB RAM
Sound Card
-Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum/7.1
DirectX
-DirectX 10

Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

When I got corrupted saved games in SH3 or GWX, the only solution I ve found is to load a previous saved game ( not the last one).
That is quite annoying cause I loose my last progress, but I don t loose the whole thing.
hope this helps.:)

So it seems it's a game bug then. Does it happen to you frequently?

Thanks for your reply. It was very helpful because now I know where the problem comes from. Too bad. It was a good game. Oh well, on to SH4 now!

With more advanced game engines come more technical instability. I've learned this lesson well (not just with SHIII).

Back up your save game folder.

Add an 'x' after the save game name, then delete the 'x' after a future save.

I've heard it said adding an additional ficticious career often works.
