V1 and ship name option issues
I recently installed GWX2.0 and haven't spent much time on it yet, anyway I am very grateful the V1 (buzz bomb) is added, it is one of my favorite objects, but how is it used (how can one have it crashed?). I don't know in which (single) missions it is used. I didn't find anything about it in the manual. How historically correct is its presence in the U-boat war? I like it anyway:)
I installed the ship names option (in sh3commander), but didn't see any of them in a single mission. I suppose you have to start SH with sh3commander. I tried that anyway. And how historic are those ship names I was wondering? Thanks |

See page 455 for info on the V1. I am not sure what you are referring to as "ship name option" in SH3CMDR. |
IIRC, the ship names from SH3 Commander are only used in campaigns. AFAIK, they did a good job of using real ship names for each class of ship.

SHIII Cdr Ship Names
@ Kristian2 - The list of ship names for SHIII Cdr was compiled by Observer, JScones, Sailor Steve, Bigboywooly, and myself. I can personally state that all of the names added to the list by myself are entirely accurate in regards to history; they are the names of ships that served during WWII (some were sunk by U-Boats, some by other causes, and some survived the war). As for the names added by the others, I am 99% certain that all of them are historically accurate as well. The only historical problem which will arise is when a ship is used by more than one nation, and uses names which were of ships of different nationalities in RL; for example, one might sink a UK Tramp Steamer with a Norwegian name. At the moment, there is nothing that can be done to conveniently fix this (aside from such drastic solutions as cloning each ship for each nation:88)), but the system works pretty well, IMHO.:up:

thanks, but
You did some thorough work on those ship names!
I found the V1 all right in the manual, although it didn't mention how to get it to work. Setting the last waypoint to zero height? I'll try tomorrow again anyway, it didn't seem to appear in the mission strangely. Another question, how can I make the wooden clock disappear? Can't remember how I did it in GWX1.03. I can't find the texture of it. I already removed the clock.wav (I find the sound somewhat annoying) as well as the ringing sound after each order but I use my old speech files. |

OOOOohhh my. Geez Privateer. I'm glad I remembered to put the coffee aside before reading your post and watching that video! |
The YouTube doesn't do the scene justice.
I can watch the V1 from a distance and it is a cool shot!! Almost as cool as that other one I sent you!! May have to add colored smoke and record an air show. :rotfl: |
Sub Launched ? :D

The V1 never made any entry in the U-Boat arms, it was strictly a Luftwaffe projects based on land (and a few hundereds launched in the air). I can imagine that some people back then thought about the possibility to load them on a big sub and send them off to America of so but it wouldn't be very practical as a lot of special requirements had to be fullfilled to make the V1 work. (suchs as a special ramp and steamlauncher).

chronometer that's the name (and how I must have done it:).
Actually the engine has to shut down before falling out off the sky, but I am not complaining about that. Strange as it seems to be the stock SH3 panel with a GWX2 aircraft, but he probably preferred the old version of it. |

@Kristian2
The old control panel is from one of my test installs. I have 5 different installs for testing, 1 install bone stock, and 1 install of GWX 2.0 factory fresh!!! :) The V1 was designed as eye candy (for now) You can not fire it and there is no way to cut the engines. The vid was a plotted course with 0 as the last waypoint. The Bismark ' just got in the way ' :rotfl: |
