Crash !!!!

Just a question about some wierdness. Whenever I load my saved game from my career.. nomatter where I am when it loads (And I always save while surfaced), as soon as the sub loads into existance, there is a loud CRASH !!! followed by the sounds of glass shattering and the lights flicker on and off. Beyond that, nothing else seems to happen.
Do I always mange to save at the point right before Bernard is about to drop a stack of dishes ? Has anyone else experienced this ? I'm just making sure that my Uboat isn't being "damaged" by nothing with every reload. I don't want to have the Uboat slowly being more destroyed with every reload.:shifty:
I don't think that's what's going to happen, but I'm just checking.

Yeah, I had that on my last patrol. However a couple of times I did save whilst submerged. And I think saving whilst in visual contact with the enemy affects the save too.

As the boat wasn't actually getting damaged, just the sound of breaking glass, I wasn't too bothered. Although I have adopted better housekeeping now, and only saving whilst surfaced.

When you load, I think the game 'applies' all the damage you accumulated before the save.

Keelbuster is correct

Thank the maker. Bernard is also no longer allowed to carry the stacks of dishes to the "Captain's Table" anymore as a precaution.

Yeah.. that makes sense now. We do have a nice sizeable dent directly in front of the tower (and the paint is all scratched up too !:stare: ) from a Royal Air Force bomb that hit a little too close.

I have the same problem, except I also experience a big WHHOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG!

Did anyone get injured before you saved? Same thing as the damage, injured crew get applied along with the damage as soon as you load a save.

Now that I am not injured, it does not happen. I guess someone put Bernard on the end of the cooking line and not the beginning of it.

You can use the lights flashing and damage sounds phnomena to give you and idea of how much damage you have.

A short 2-3 seconds =10% damage

And what is a 20 second lights-out period representative of? Death? The sound is the worst part for me....I have to turn my speakers all the way off so that I do not blow them.

I have no problem with that. I tend to keep my speakers up loud (They're surround sound all over this room because this room doubles as a home made reccording/mixing studio). I keep it loud for the immersion. Hearing the rumble of the engines as if I'm really there is way cool. I DO have to keep the voices volume turned down. The only problem I have when I have to turn down the speakers is the obvious one....
"ALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARM !!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!! *PANIC !!! CRASH !!!! BOOM !!!!*
Sometimes, if my sub is running on a navigational path and I happen to be in the room working on something else while my navigator continues the boat on it's course, it's enough to make me jump out of my skin !
