Legitament Gripe
Every once and a while I come across a minesweeper or destroyer that has super sonar, and what is worse, unlimited depth charges. Ok, I could handle both of those, but only if their keel wasnt just 1 foot under water. Can't break contact, they dont run out of ammo, and you cannot sink them because the torpedoes wont hit, they just run underneath the ships...
Possible to make torpedoes skip across the surface like in SH3? Maybe with a mod or somthing? |
That my friend would be a sub chaser.
Best course of action is evasion. |
I use the deck gun against the subchasers :arrgh!:

I accidentally sunk one of those sub chasers in a game a few days ago. I was aiming for a merchant when I suddenly spotted a warship coming straight for me. He must have gone into the path of one of my torpedoes. I had fired a spread of 4 with different settings (magnetic, contact, shallow, deep) I assume it's the shallow magnetic torpedo that got him :)

surface under that douchebag and show him the meaning of a 44" deck cannon.

Run silent, run deep.

Try to stay behind the Subchaser when using your deck gun.
His only gun is in the front so he has to turn to bring it to bear... JIM |

The EZ mode surface battles in the stock game would be much harder if the crew was actually hurt by all the AAA.

About a week ago I had a little "disagreement" with a subchaser. And he pounded my butt righteously with dc's. Thought I was a goner so I battle surfaced even though I only had 6 rounds of 4" left. Since I always let my crew do the gunning I figured it was curtains for my fearless crew (who at this point were screaming, shouting, donning life vests etc). The second round I fired took out his deck gun and the others all slammed into the water line (as I had ordered). I out-ran him and got away.
When back in Perth the crew was once again fearless. That was one of those situations that makes you say "Whew". Cheers! Peto |
