Red Baron SFX Trailer
http://video.mail.ru/list/pealot/2/8.html
:o:up::huh: Keep in mind that this is not Hollywood, but Ludwigsburg :D |
Ludwigsburg is great all the same

Nice movie but the music seemed totally wrong.
|
It's not an official movie trailer, but rather a demo tape of the SFX company, which is based in Ludwigsburg.
Ludwigsburg is a small town near Stuttgart previously mostly known for the largest prison of germany (now a museum). |

Looks fantastic, gotta say I had no trouble with the music - just like one of Dowly's videos:up:

Been looking forward to this movie coming out for a long while, since Von Richtofen is the subject of many books in my collection. From what I can gather, the treatment of Manfred Von Richthofen in this movie does seem to be fairly genuine, as opposed to the the usual Hollywood 'Gott in Himmel, I am zee Red Baron' type of portrayal he invariably gets insulted with in movies. Actually if you've ever read his autobiography (which admittedly was partly ghost-written), you'll know the guy had quite a cool sense of humour.
Anyway, this upcoming film certainly couldn't be any worse than that recent 'Flyboys' pile of arse, which came across like Beverley Hills 90210 with Biplanes. Hopefully the actual film music will be sympathetic to the period. It all goes horribly wrong when a WW1 flick has modern music, as anyone who's ever watched Gallipoli will know, a decent movie spoiled by quite possibly the most intrusive and inappropriate soundtrack of all time. :D Chock |

Great graphics! Hope its DX9! :rotfl:
Seriously, metal and WW1 (or WW2, for that matter) is really a good way to make me want to hurt small animals. Looks like fun, lets just hope the music is a clever marketing ploy in the trailers to lure the Linkin Parkers into the theatres. |
Well, being at the library I couldn't listen to the music. That said, I must mention that I had high hopes from an earlier trailer showing the Albatroses, but seeing an action sequence like that makes me nervous. The CGI looks good, but the roll rates on some of the planes look awfully fast for some of the comparisons I've seen. I hope that trailer was speeded up a little, or I'm going to be throwing a lot of popcorn.

But to a WWI flier, going 100mph might feel the same as a WWI flier going 400mph. It is largely a matter of perspective.
If it was slowed down, realistic and "accurate", it might not come across as "authentic" because it would not capture the excitement and fear of WWI combat because we are too used to jets. |
Honesty is not synomynous with truth, eh?
|
At least according to a bunch of socialist deconstructionist historians.

We are also talking about Hollywood and what they feel will sell. 100 kt at altitude can seem very slow. Unless of course you are in the furball. Since I have aviation experience I'd rather see the 100 kt dogfight, but very few have my background, and if you want to make money in the movie business liberties have to be taken. |
