A few various questions

Hello, relatively new here. I just started a campaign, Dec 1941 in Manila.

1. I'm ordered to parol in Luzon Straight. Before I could reach the area I had expanded all my torpedoes on a large convoy, sunk like 8-10 ships. I then headed to the patrol area and circled there for 2 weeks, but my mission isn't marked as completed yet.
What next ?

2. Am I the only one to have a manual that doesnt explain how the radio works ?

Thanks.

1: you need to be within a certain radius, about 100nm

2: nope

To be safe stay within 50 nm of either side of the icon for 48 hours. Then head for home once the icon turns grey. Do not radio in a status report or you will get a second objective (ordinarilly you would want that, but with no torps left it's best to get home)

You will find these threads very handy over the next little while, as the manual leaves a lot to be desired.

I recommend to download RFB mod and start again as it fixes a lot of stuff . Sometimes submerging for a while then surfacing completes a mission . I find the time you have to spend at the patrol zone varies . Quite often when the mission to patrol the zone is completed it will give another one to sink enemy ships so i would say head to your nearest port for a refit . Then head back to your patrol zone . A refit doesnt end the patrol , you just get resupplied with extra torps and fuel . cheers .

All the above plus it usually says "sink MERCHANT shipping" 10K tons and you're done. Remember, it seems the program wants to see if you follow orders, they always throw a TF my way just to screw with me. Look for the tankers.....

Be patient with the game, ask questions like you are doing, it is an enjoyable one:up:

I just HAD to put a little correction here :p

If you radio in with no torpedoes on board you will NOT recieve further orders.

If you stop at a 'tender' and get re-fitted and then radio in a report you WILL recieve further orders.

I use this method quite often and do 5 or 6 missions per patrol. Kind of makes your carrier last longer.

Down side is that the loading time gets pretty long.

ps; The manual makes a decent coaster.

Note that in the 'sink merchant shipping' mission once the star on the map turns grey you can leave the area and sink out ships anywhere on the map. You do not have to remain near the map marker.
