Beached Merchants?

I have never seen this before until my last 2 patrols and have no way to explain it...

In the third patrol I came across a medium merchant just churning his props trying to drive into a beach but not taking any damage.

On my 4th patrol I came up to a small merchant just parked bow into another beach with engines stopped.

Both times these ships took massive amounts of ammo to sink I'm assuming due to the fact that they werent even really floating, so sinking was a bit harder, had to really blow them up.

Anyone else seen this? seems so odd.

Yes, I saw two kamikazi an island. Ships spawn and given waypoints by the developers. I guess they forgot the islands are out there.

Probably not a designed feature, but more of an accidental one, but you can't deny tha it is realistic. See this picture of a beached Jap ship...

i havent seen at see ships run around since 1.0 where i watched two seperate convoys beach themselves. currently i only see ships in port on/in land/structures. and most of those are 'destroyed' or unsinkable

Actually Ive done that myself :p

Plotted a course through the marshells and wasent paying attention and ran into an atoll.

Went back to the outside view to see my boat with its bow up on the beach churning away.

I see it happen sometimes when I'm attacking in an enemy port. If a destroyer is actively searching for me they eventually end up turning too wide and get stuck on the walls of the port.
