I'm not up to speed with the skinning of boats in SH4 but if you're linking to my tutorial please be advised that it's based on the SH3 file structure & setup, as such the tools required, i.e Chessmaster 10 & SH3 Unpacker may or may not work in SH4.
However, there is a little bit of info about using PS CS2, so it may still be helpful. I really think you need a Skinning Tutorial just for SH4 to avoid any confusion over file structure, packing of DAT files, the extraction of textures & the specific working with DDS files. However, feel free to keep this linked until something better comes along. EDIT - How did this get here???:hmm: You sly sea dog.:) |

Gizzmoe, This is a terrific idea!! There are so many of us "newbies" now, seeing items like this we can only progress in our skills. I suspect however that many of us have to learn the "computer speak" too. We are not likely to be modding but rather follow all the hard work by the people who do know. I believe you have stated it before (and most modders do) but to add to their mod. "Jones's compatible" or use "Mini Tweaker" would be even more graceful of them. In conclusion, may I say for the majority of us, how all the things the chaps are doing with SH4 modding at present is VERY VERY much appreciated. In some instances, hours/days must be spent on enhancing the game. THANK YOU......Dusty

I don't know about how they where created but they are "Light-maps" that's what you see shimmering through under the paint of the boats, look sort of "metallic" in game.
