Noob question

Sorry if this seems obvious; when using the hydrophone, are the readings relative to the compass or the current position of the u-boat?:-?

Thanks in advance

Just worked it out myself!!

Of course, as the u boats screws give a reading at 180 when the engines are running, then the readings are relative to the u-boat and not the compass...

Yes...and also note that the scale does not move when you change course :know: Never be afraid to ask a question here, no matter if you think it could be obvious...

He probaly meant azimuth or compass card..

Regardless what your ship's heading, its bow will always be 000 or 360. Starboard , always 090, the stern 180 and port 270.
