AI ships running aground...
Started a carreer in a Type IIA, 1st Flotilla out of Kiel and it's 1st September 1939 at night time. I could hear explosions all around me. I initially thought the Polish airforce was bombing Kiel Harbor...then I remembered the Polish airforce was practically non-existent during WW2. So I went to investigate and the explosions were all the merchant ships coming or going into Kiel, running aground.
Is this normal and is there a fix? |
Are you using any mod or is the vanilla version?
Did you save the game while in the harbor and start if over again? This confuses AI ships and the waypoints that are set up for them. |
Warhawk....I'm using GWX...sorry forget to mention.
Yes! I did save the game while in harbour and start it up again! Is that it then? Thanks....that must be a new record for solving a problem. ...so I wont be doing that again...thanks again! |
Well known stock bug
Always save around 100km from port if you really have to |
Yeah, it screws up the waypoints.
Do not save near habors. Submerged or near convoy/warships. No problem. This is about the only forum that is not full if near-do-wells. Great bunch of guys having a good time! Welcome aboard! |
It's all the Kaleuns leaving Bernard behind what causes all the chaos in the harbours. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

50 km probably is but if I am running SH3Gen then I always like to save as far as possible
As far as I can see thats the only reason you would need to save so close to a home port |
I've been getting annoying CTDs and one of them happened when I just started a new carreer/patrol...can you imagine? Set up a new carreer in Commander, set up your crew, go to your first patrol..then CTD. Lost all your carrear info because Commander doesn't save it unless you do a save beforehand. Very frustrating. Plus I was testing out the settings on my new graphics card...hence why I was in harbour so long.
But now I know to get at least to 50-100 km from port before saving. Thanks everyone. |
