Snow, anyone?
Had an ideer today (compliments of the recent snow we've been getting here, prolly :p )
SH3Commander has an option for wave height as 'seasonal'. Could not snow be modelled as texture like rain is, and have Commander have a 'precipitation' option for seasonal as well? So that if you select seasonal, during certain months (for example, December through March) and in certain zones instead of getting rain you get snow? |
Seasonal rain/snow may be possible but I think I'm correct in saying that region selective weather is not. IIRC weather is global in SH3. i.e. not defined by global regions.

Funny you should bring up this thread today as it has been snowing hard all day long.

That's a great idea, except you'd also need to change the physics of the rain so it didn't behave as such.
But yes, that, and a "Climate and season" switch in SH3 Commander ("snowy" and "rainy"), would be great. Quote:

Well if you have snow, you wouldn't see the bow of your sub... Which means you would have to dive and you wouldn't see the snow underwater...:D
|
You can just imagine the boat skins of the future having 'seasonal' variations in them....even snowmen on deck
On a more serious note though...yes, great idea if it's possible  |

Can an ice shelf or high conentrations of glaciers be created to expand and contract in the arctic during winter/summer states? I would think something like this could be feasible for sh3weather or sh3 commander to write into the campaign file based on winter/summer seasons. Wolves at War has an imaginary latitude we are supposed to stay below during certain months because of an imaginary expanding and retracting ice shelf. It would be cool to actually see one.
