Quick Question - Who the *%&# is Bernard?
 

I've seen him mentioned in every other thread here but who is this guy? Based on the context in which his name is invoked, it sounds like he's some kind of gremlin.

Check the first page of the stickied screenshots thread for the "genesis of Bernard." He's Dowly's creation and you're correct....Herr Bernard is an embodiment of the phrase "anything that could go wrong, WILL go wrong." ;)

He is also an option for one of your crew members . . . I dunno if that was added with GWX but it makes me LMAO and I grab him everytime I can

Bernard is the owner/operator of SubSim. He tries to hide his true identity by calling himself "Neal."

Well, at least that's what I've heard. ;)

It can't be Neal, he only asked me the other day to give him the low-down on Bernard.

Maybe he was trying to cover his tracks.:hmm:

FYI - There is actually a member of Subsim called Bernard Dummkopf, not seen him around lately though. Probably a good thing.:yep:

I don't know how he does it, but Bernard tends to stealth into my boat EVERY FREAKIN' TIME !! His name may not be listed under my crew roster.. but I know he's there.. (All those missed torpedo shots that should have been dead on at point blank range, crashing and scraping my boat against the Kiel docks, sinking my sub at the dock when crashing into it, hitting a sand bar when leaving port, The incedent where he accidentally blew ballast in the middle of that military convoy... etc...)
And somehow he time traveled and plagues me in Dangerous Waters too (Running the FFG into a sand bar at full speed causing it to jump from the water like the Dukes of Hazzard, Shooting the FFG helecoptor by accident when it was coming in for a landing while shooting at another ship with a missile... Launching a torpedo from my sub which doubled back and hit me...) The list goes on...
