SH4 1.5/TMO 2.5/RSRDC v502 CTD

Game runs perfectly stable until i try to look at japanese warships in the recog manual. I can get to corvettes in the book before it ctd's in the same spot of the book every time.

this appears to be a constant issue with either TMO or RSRDC.

Does anyone know where to edit recog manual files?

These are my mods. Everything was painstaking installed in the correct order.

there is probably a graphic missing from one of the escort folders.
can you post the list of DD/DE you see up to the point of the CTD?
we may be able to pinpoint which ship is the offending culprit and come up with a fix.

It crashes after you get to Type D Coastal destroyer in the corvettes section, clicking on the right arrow.

EDIT: I have no idea what the next one in the book is, if you know how to read the manual externally that would help

You have a mix of non-compatible files there. You have TMO's original file, along with an update and a couple other files from Bubblehead. Then you put RSRDC on top of it, which is not compatible with Bubblehead's files, and then OTC, which is also not compatible.

If you want RSRDC on TMO, You can then carefully add other mods. Early War Scopes will overwrite OTC, and possibly cause a crash. The Pike skin should be OK. NMMO should be OK, but do not use Bubblehead's update - that is for his version of TMO only.

To do Bubblehead1980's version, his thread is Trigger Maru Overhauled Update BH V2.0. You can use mods he made for his version, but anything for regular TMO has to be checked for compatibility first. This applies especially to anything ship or plane involved, but also other aspects. This is why your current mix is crashing when looking at the RecMan, in that OTC does not have all of the ships that Bubblehead's mix does.

It seems you’re encountering a crash to desktop (CTD) issue when accessing certain parts of the recognition manual in Silent Hunter 4 with the TMO and RSRDC mods. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including mod conflicts or corrupted files.

To address the issue with the recognition manual, you might need to edit the game’s configuration files. These files are usually located in the game’s installation directory, often within a ‘Data’ or ‘Config’ subfolder. However, the exact location can vary depending on how the game is modded.

Here are some general steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue.

Check for Mod Conflicts Ensure that there are no conflicts between the mods you have installed. Use a mod manager like JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) to manage your mods and check for conflicts.
Verify Game Files If you’re using a platform like Steam, use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ feature to check for and repair any corrupted files.
Edit Recognition Manual Files If the issue is specifically with the recognition manual, you may need to locate the manual files within the game’s directory structure and check them for errors. These files might be in a format that can be edited with a text editor.
Apply Bug Fixes Check out the Silent Hunter Wiki for known bug fixes that might address your issue.
Large Address Aware Patch If you’re running the game on a modern system, applying a Large Address Aware patch can help prevent CTDs by allowing the game to use more memory.
Remember to back up your game files before making any changes, so you can restore them if something goes wrong.
