Baffle effects with towed arrays

Hi!

My US sub is tracking an Oscar-class SSGN at 95% solution. When I am abeam of the Oscar, it shows the Oscar has the following sensor values against my sub:
Active 10
Passive -4
Towed -2
When I move into the Oscar's baffles, it shows
Active -50
Passive -50
Towed -50
Shouldn't the Oscar's sensor values be something like this when I am in its baffles since it has a towed array?
Active -50
Passive -50
Towed -2
Can anyone tell me if this is a bug or a "feature"?

Thanks!

I also use the Oscar as the main submarine, there has never been such a thing, so this is a mistake.:ping:

Well, ownship towed retracts automatically when you go too slow or in too shallow of water. Does the same thing happen to the AI? You may be seeing two effects here.

ranges

like FPSchazly said their are a few factor,s in play

1.) Type

so first is quality and type of array this mainly is its :

SonarNoisePerKnot= (RATING)

&

SonarPassiveSensitivity= (RATING)

2.) Speed

how fast is the Ai sub going

4 is minimum before it cuts out

5 is the Optimum speed

12 still get readings but its badly degraded

3.) Depth

Is the ai sub too near the surface -40 Feet ish if i remember it cuts out

Or

Is the ai sub near the sea floor -200 Feet it cuts out

Hope this helps any

Hi!

OK, this time I used the mission editor to set up an engagement in deep water in the mid-Atlantic [edit].

I put in a strong layer with wind and rain so the Oscar wouldn't detect me right away.

In this case, the Oscar wass traveling at 11 knots and was just above the layer (i.e., not near the surface). My boat was at 300 feet depth just below the layer. The Oscar's towed array value was -4 until I was in its baffles, when the Oscar's towed array value became -50 along with the active and passive hull systems.

I'm wondering if it could be an issue with AI-controlled boats if the towed array works as designed on a player-controlled Oscar.

Can anyone else replicate this?

Thanks!

Pablo
