Different tunes in different harbours
Hi everyone,
the band is playing for the leaving or returning submarine - a nice feature in SH3. But allways the same tune - not amusing! So i made a MOD that "enables" the band to play different tunes in different harbours. The band will play the following marches in the bases/harbours (note: in SH3 only axis-bases have a band): - Fanfara_01: Wilhelmshaven, Flensburg = "Gruß an Kiel" - Fanfara_02: Lorient, St.Nazaire, Trondheim = "Erzherzog-Albrecht-Marsch" - Fanfara_03: Brest, Kiel, Hamburg = "Muss I denn..." - Fanfara_04: Bergen, Narvik, Constanza = "Alte Kammeraden" - Fanfara_05: La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Penang = "18er Husarenmarsch" - Fanfara_06: La Spezia, Toulon, Soerabaja = "La Ritirata" (italian navymarch for the mediteranien theatre) You can download the MOD (incl. tunes - some 32 MB) from the following url: http://files.filefront.com/MilitaryM.../fileinfo.html You can re-arrange harbours and tunes just by alternating the filenames or you can add your favorite tunes/marches by overwriting one or more existing Fanfara_xx.wav files. Remember that the wav-files must be in mono. Stereo-wav-files will not work in SH3. ATTENTION: The installation of this MOD will overwrite the file "sh3.sdl" in the folder "SilentHunterIII/data/Sound" of your SH3-game. That means - if you have individual changes in and/or a modified sh3.sdl (from other mods), all changes will be set back to the default values of the original UBI-soft file sh3.sdl. If you do not want that, do not install the MilitaryMarch-MOD!!! Enjoy and good hunting rowi58 |

Is this mod compatible with GW 1.1a? |
I dont know whether GW 1.1a has made some changes to the file "sh3.sdl" (i dont use GW). If not, ithere should be no problems with this Mod.

Cool! Though I would prefer to have it randomized so tunes change no matter where you are.

Great mod Rowi ! many thanks for the job !
Sadly i have many changes into my sh3.sdl file.... Can you make a tutorial about how to manually edit the file to add your changes ? Many thanks in advance ! |

i can give you a short manual. The only thing you need is a HexEditor - and no fear in editing the sh3.sdl with it. First off all: if you need a good (and free) HexEditor - try this one - i like it: - http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delph...vi32/xvi32.htm - The manual will follow soon. Greetings to Buenos Aires - this is allways the last harbour/baser in my SilentHunter3-Careers (with the Type XXI of course). rowi58 |
Hi any chance for the Band to play "Gedenkmarsch" or do they not know that tune ?!

I think this other guy said it best: "I hate that band, they follow me from port to port and know only one tune!". It still makes me laugh out loud:rotfl:.
I thought about, just for fun, replacing their tune with some crazy thing. Imagine leaving to the Popeye Theme, the Imperial March from Star Wars, or Row, Row, Row your boat!:D! Or the Tipperary Song! |

Just incorporate it into Grey Wolves. Problem solved:cool:.

Do you guys know that if you are running SH3Cmdr, then you have the ability to randomise fanfares, as well as basically any element of SH3?
You can start every patrol no matter where you are with a different fanfare! Check the SH3Cmdr readme or search this forum for further detail on how to set it up. It's been raised and answered a number of times. There's nothing you can't randomise with SH3Cmdr. |

Random\0\Date\19390901\data\Sound\Fanfara_01.wav Random\1\Date\19390901\data\Sound\Fanfara_01.wav Random\2\Date\19390901\data\Sound\Fanfara_01.wav Random\3\Date\19390901\data\Sound\Fanfara_01.wav But Im not quite sure where Im suppose add those lines and do I need to make the fanfares all different numbers? |
They're not "lines", they're "files".
Basically, you add one copy of fanfara01.wav (let's say the "Gruß an Kiel" one) to a folder called "SH3 Commander\Random\0\Date\19390901\data\Sound\ (you create the latter three sub-folders). You add one copy of fanfara01.wav (this time it's "Erzherzog-Albrecht-Marsch") to a folder called "SH3 Commander\Random\1\Date\19390901\data\Sound\. Whilst the file is different, it is important that it remain titled fanfara01.wav. You add one copy of fanfara01.wav (this time it's "Muss I denn...") to a folder called "SH3 Commander\Random\2\Date\19390901\data\Sound\. Repeat as many times as desired. Note: whilst SH3Cmdr "comes with" 5 random folders (numbered 0 to 4) you can add as many more as you like. And that's it - SH3Cmdr will pick at random a fanfara01.wav file every time it runs. And the more fanfara01.wav files you have, the more variety you will get. *NB, the example above assumes you haven't installed Rowi58's mod. Now the cool thing is, if you install Rowi58's mod *plus* utilise SH3Cmdr's Random file structure, you can randomise tracks for each base (just add extra fanfara02...fanfara06.wav files to the Random folders). So you can have an exclusive set of files that you only want to play at say, Brest, and get them randomly each time you start a patrol there, but never get them at say, Bergen. |
Thanks for the fast reply JScones! Your mod is a work of art

you can download the short manual as you requested. You will find it here: http://files.filefront.com/sh3_sdl_e.../fileinfo.html Hope it helps. rowi58 |
My muddled, addled brain slowly begins to have a limited understanding of how it works.
Doesn't mean I can do it, but at least I can try. |
