German to English
Since I cant speak 1 word of german I was wondering if some1 can translate these for me pls. I tried babel fish but it didnt make any sence.
Deutsche Seeverbände = ? Befehlshaber der U-Boote = ? Zu allen U-Booten = ? Thx |
Yeah, I'd love to help you out there. I do speak German, so it's tempting. Tell you what, I'll give you the exact same sort of 'help' you offered to me a couple of weeks ago when I needed it, and you took great delight in withholding it.
... How was that? |
Just fine, what I'd expect from u any way. Besides I wouldnt trust u to be honest either, so no loss.

Befehlshaber der U-Boote Zu allen U-Booten
its part of a msg and I have no idea WTH it means, sorry |
Quote:
"Befehlshaber der U-Boote" would be "Commander-in-Chief of Submarines" |
Now that makes more sence,
Its in the HT 1.44 mod "radio msg's" u have @"from"@ = @Befehlshaber der U-Boote@ ^"to"^ = ^Zu allen U-Booten^ so now would read @Commander-in-Chief of Submarines@ ^To all submarines^ |

Ahh, sweet. Now It all adds up right :)
Thx PS : yeah I ment 1.46, my goof. |
Hmm, the way I see it now that I have looked at it the msg format is such
From : " @Befehlshaber der U-Boote@" To:"^ Zu allen U-Booten^" so now would read From : " @Commander-in-Chief of Submarines@" To:"^ all submarines^" |
Probably more like this:
@From: Commander-in-Chief of Submarines@^To: All submarines^|1941/05/23|U-boats in the vicinity... |
Sorry but I think u may have misunderstood the syntext :
@from@ = is the sender of the msg but is prefixed with the word "FROM" ^to^ = is the target of the msg but is prefixed with the word "TO" ie : From : " @Commander-in-Chief of Submarines@" To:"^ all submarines^" Type in like u have it : @From: Commander-in-Chief of Submarines@^To: All submarines^ and u would end up with : From :From: Commander-in-Chief of Submarines To:To: All submarines as the actual msg |
Oh, ok, I thought you also wanted to add the words "From" and "to" to the text...
|
NP's, easy to get confused
|
A little correction... Führer der Unterseeboote is the Commander in Chief of Submarines (a duty that was executed by Dönitz himself), and Befehlshaber der Unterseeboote is the High-Command of Submarines (which is a group of naval officers that take the decisions about submarines).
Cheers  |
Well, on the other hand: "From 1936 until August 1939 Karl Dönitz lead the U-boat force as FdU (Führer der Unterseeboote) with a relatively small staff. The title FdU was changed to BdU (Befehlshaber der Unterseeboote) on 19 September, 1939."
So Dönitz' title official was BdU. The entire organisation/command was also called BdU. :hmm: |
Where did you find that? Because I don't see it that way. Führer is Chief, Director, so, that should be the title of Dönitz, while Befehlshaber is the High-Command, but one can't be the Chief and the High-Command at the same time. Either he is the Chief or he is part of the High-Command. That makes a lot more sense. :hmm:
