No graphics for SH3
Yesterday SH3 loaded, NYGM version, but except for music there were no graphics displayed. I have win10 (64 bit version) installed and an Nvidia card with 2 gigs of memory. The last time I played the game (one week ago) everything worked great! Tried to figure out why it wasn't working any longer by reloading my mods one by one.
I used a basic version of the patched game...it loaded. I installed all of the NYGM files...the game loaded. When I loaded Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final and Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final - FILES for NYGM v3.6D the program lost all visuals. What I had installed that worked in the past: NYGM Tonnage War V2.5 – Stand Alone Version NYGM3_0 NYGM3_1 NYGM3_2 NYGM3_3B NYGM3_3C NYGM3_4A NYGM3_5 NYGM3_6D IABL Ships for NYGM M.E.P v6 M.E.P v6 - VisualSensors for NYGM 3.6F Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final Ahnenerbe WideGui 1920 x 1080 Final - FILES for NYGM v3.6D Fubar XXIupdate New XXI Crew FuMB37XXIII NEW for XXI_44 Restore Gods Eye View Single Merchant Contact Mod DFa_UpDnRot Supplement to V16B1 (JSGME) Any and all help to solve this problem is appreciated. Hi silentway
Your problem would suggest that you have had a Windows update. The problem you are describing seems to be appearing everyday now on Subsim. There does not seem to be a common fix that works for everyone. Check this thread out. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=232036 Also check out my SH3 signature as you will find information at the beginning of the tutorials. Peter |

Invidia Or ATI - Radeoon? |
It's well known problem with Win10 Creators Update.
After that I can't play with any widescreen gui - using stock resolution everything is ok. |
Hi jaxa
Widescreen GUI in LSH3-2015 works perfectly with Windows 10 Creator v1703 once I rolled back the updated driver. Post #17 GPU Driver Roll Back To A Previous Version Another noticeable action that also maybe needed is to disable HIGH DPI Scaling on your SH3.exe. Peter https://s11.postimg.org/lkl39nqjn/ls...oad_banner.gif |
That's interesting, thanks for info.
I play with GWX, so rather can't use LSH stuff for it, but could you explain me how to disable high dpi scaling on sh3.exe? |
Hi jaxa
This is for SH3 version. SH3 and Windows 10 use compatibility mode Windows 7 Run any .exe Application as administrators. Override DPI High scaling. Right click with your mouse to open the SH3.exe Open Properties and then compatibility. https://s18.postimg.org/4aha5wsft/Ov...PI_Scaling.jpg Peter |
What I notice with changes
Hauanqua: Thanks for your reply. The mod order I posted worked for me until the win10 update of 10-15 days ago. All of the different NYGM mods are in the correct order and this configuration worked before.
The Ahnenerbe wideGUI 1920x1080 is what I use. The d3d9 config file is set with the correct display width and display height. But when the display comes up, and there is sound, the program is in full screen resolution but at 1024x768. I suspect maybe the dll for the Ahnenerbe mod needs to be tweaked in order for it to work properly since the big win10 update. I tried rolling back to an earlier driver...windows 10 would not let me. I tried reloading directx 9.0c windows 10 did not let me. I will keep experimenting, but the options are looking slim. |
Hi silentway
I do not understand why you were not able to roll back your driver? Did you follow my tutorial instructions? If Windows updated your driver then your previous one should be there to roll back. Can you tell me what your current driver version is? Is it one of the latest 382.?? ones? In the main cfg file my video resolution shows 1920 x 1020 even though the monitor native resolution is 1920 x 1080 Full screen = yes 1024 x 768 4.3 aspect ratio default setting for original game resolutions for VGA monitors. d3d9 config settings (LSH3 widescreen gui mod) [ENGINE] ForceResOverride=true DisplayWidth=1360 DisplayHeight=768 FullScreen=true Peter |

Thanks for the reply TheBerbster. The driver is 382.05. Windows does not let me roll it back. I tried making changes as per SH3 properties and compatability. I used your example, but it did not work.
|
Hi silentway
The 382.05 driver is the one that is causing all the problems. I only know of one person who has not had problems with this driver. My advice would be to go on the internet and download a driver that is compatible. 382.05 NO 4.5.2017 381.89 NO 25.4.2017 381.65 NO 6.4.2017 378.92 YES 20.3.2017 376.33 YES 14.12.2016 352.63 YES 376.53 YES Dec 2016 Peter |

Hi TheBerbster, I downloaded the 378.92 driver two days ago and tried loading it. Windows10 did not let me load it. Is there another way of getting it loaded in win10?
|
Hi silentway
Try this fix! Right click on your SH3.exe Go to Properties Select Compatibility Tab Run the ‘Compatibility trouble shooter. Your system will now start investigating for any problems. You may be asked to ‘test the program’ If you are offered this option then accept it. Hopefully the outcome will be successful. Peter |

Hi Herbster,
No luck! Troubleshooter tried several different configurations, but still no display. If I remove Ahnenerbe's d3d9.dll I get the 1024x768 screen, but the game plays. I really like Ahnenerbe's GUI and at 1920x1080 it's at another level. Too bad about the driver issue, I don't know if there is a work around unless I put the game on another computer system loaded with XP or Win 7 (I own both OS's) and try to keep Microsoft at arms length so they won't change the driver like they did on win10. Thanks for your help and advice. SilentwayIII |

It would appear if the game runs in stock then it is not a Direct X problem. We know the stock game default resolution setting is 1024 x 768 with an aspect ratio of 4.3 which is why you get the bars down the sides. I take it you are using the correct version of Ahnenerbe wide screen mod the one known as 'final'. Ahnenerbe's mod when used in LSH3-2015 is never fully wide screen unlike the LSH3-2015 widescreen mod which is. It could be a resolution size in the d3d9 config settings. Check the display height, it should be greater than 1024, probably 1360. It could be a resolution size in the SH3 main cfg file video settings. This should represent your monitors resolution or close to it. Peter |
Hi TheBerbster,
-I am using the correct version of Ahnenerbe's GUI (Final). -The d3d9 config file settings, with Ahnenerbe's mod, are 1920x1080. -The SH3 main config file video display setting is 1024x800. I have bumped this up to my 'real' screen resolution of 1920x1080 but as long as Ahnenerbe's d3d9.dll is loaded in the SH3 folder there is only a black screen, but with music. Without Ahnenerbe's d3d9.dll the program loads, but the resolution is 1024x768. I will try the following: I will delete the current video driver and then load a video driver 378.92 (Nvidia) that I know, and you say works. Reboot the system Go to SH3.exe properties and confirm Win10 loaded its own video driver. If Win10 does load its own driver I will try to roll back the driver to the one I installed earlier. Thanks for the suggestions. SilentwayIII |

One tip worth trying is to change the d3dp config to 1360 x768 or 1366 x 768. Quote:
As rolling back your driver you can also update it as well as can be seen in the picture from tutorial post #17 https://s18.postimg.org/tsx6cbzw9/image.jpg Peter |
