Japanese and German subs in TMO
I'm in my TMO career with high realism with 891,000 tonnes sunk in early 44' but I haven't sunk a single German or Japanese sub can someone tell me where the good hunting grounds are?

You are getting paid to sink merchants! Since when are you a ASW?

Wel, I finally got my first Jap sub in their Home-waters. That little straight between Tokyo Bay, or where Tokyo is, and the big bay just to the west of Tokyo Bay area. There is a little groups of islands that form a small straits there, and I was in the middle, at depth as it was daytime, and the sonar man picked him up at about 16,000 yards, so I was able to move into position and blast out the outter and pressure hulls around the control room with one well placed torpedo.
Usually, if I want to do more sub hunting, I either start a career with the Asiatic Fleet outta Manila. Once you transfer to Surabaya, and Australia eventually, spend as much time as you can in the Makassar Straits between Borneo and the Celebes. That's one of the main routes they travel through there. And just south of there, I think the Flores Sea it is on the map, between the shallows, stay in the deep water, in case of planes or enemy DDs and other escort ships. Good Hunting Drum! |

BTW, if you're looking for U-Boats, I sank one in the Formosa Strait, mid or late 44. Got a message about it's transit there too.http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/...s/11f5baf6.gif I just sank my first Jap sub in open waters, early 42 in the Flores Sea. It was heading NNE toward the Molucca strait.http://i1045.photobucket.com/albums/...s/739d6e79.gif |

2 patrols back, I finally got a Fuso or Ise BB, and one Lt. cruiser. But I actually came back to base with a whoppin' 69k tons there abouts! Usually, depending on the DDs I have to tangle with, I usually have between 20k and 35k for tonnage sunk, depending on faulty torpedoes too. Have had as low as 8 or 9 thousand tons on one patrol, but that was from too many duds. Outta 24 fish, 5 actually went off. |
I'll give you a hint Ducimus really needs to work on Truk.

Have you gone around the whole island.

I crept into Hiroshima harbor striking two merchants along the path and avoiding the escorts. I have always found harbors easy pickings if you can avoid the nasties trying to sink you. Found a Fleet Carrier off shore and sank it then sank the Yamato and a couple of merchants siting dock side before getting a bit low on battery and air. I slipped into a large docking bay with a large metal framed structure around it came to the surface to refresh the air and charge the batteries. I kind of wished they would have programed the gun boats and destroyers to motor up and hunt for you instead of sitting there. If they see the periscope they will fire on you but won't come after you.
I have the latest TMO(unless there is one I do not know about) version 2.7 I think and I have never seen anything around Truk except merchants. Mark |
What I mean is Duci really needs to work on Truk's defenses such as if I'm correct there is barely any sub nets even though the whole atoll should be crawling with them.
