Is there a way to lock the external view?
Hi all,
I have searched the manual and the on screen help and I cannot find a command like the period (.) to lock in the external view. :damn: Has this been ommited? |
There is keys to switch units and a key to go back to your boat I think. I started tinkering with those but will go back to them and see if I can get them working.
|
anybody? I've found no way to do this either. They couldn't have dropped this feature, could they have?
|
Same here ... there is no 'chase' cam at least not yet.
Either free cam or first person view. Oh btw this was not a feature in SH4 at release either, once modders figured it out UBI added it to a patch. Early versions you could float the free cam near the stern of the boat and it would 'latch on' later the modders figure out how to latch on and still be able to rotate the camera. Lets hope they can fix this version too. |
I'm at a loss for words. This is pretty basic stuff. I want to watch my sub but don't have to keep following the thing like I'm some kind of oceanic fly. That one thing is ruining my enjoyment of the game. I'm a kid in a bathtub with a toy sub that I can get in, but I can't get ahold of my submarine. Yikes. Dev's, please add this asap.

Has anyone bothered to check the commands.cfg file on this? |

Here ya go, it's in the game (SH5), just no keys were assigned to it.

From that thread: Quote:
Doesn't the next/previous target lock the camera to the selected target, one of which is the sub? Am I missing something here? Is one locked camera view different from the other? |
Read the whole thread, "6" didn't work. :) And 7/8 ended up getting the camera broken to the point where even Shift-U wouldn't fix the player camera in some cases.

And the rest of the thread confirms the next/previous does actually work as intended. |
Would self locking camera view be available in the 1.2 patch?

In fact the ones for next unit and previous unit are there too, but as I said I haven't the know how to implement them. Heres how they appear : [Cmd49] Name=Camera_on_unit Contexts=1,12,15 [Cmd50] Name=Camera_on_next_unit Contexts=1,15 ;Key0=0xBE,,">" Page=0x34000000,3714 [Cmd51] Name=Camera_on_prev_unit Contexts=1,15 ;Key0=0xBC,,"<" Page=0x34000000,3714 |

There's a work around while on the surface that has to do with using the F2 key to get into a non 1st person view mode (free cam view), then using the mouse wheel to toggle in an out of binocs view, which ultimately dumps you back on the bridge in 1st person mode. Obviously that's not going to work underwater, and as far as I know, there's no similar "mouse wheel" or hot key function for the periscope (or any other non-1st person view) we can use to circumvent the problem. In any case, the zoom and mouse pan functionality is flaky at best. JD |
