The reality sea is the most important in submarine game [Merged]
The reality of sea should have:
1.The transparency of the sea must be high. 2.Refraction of the water needs of two or more. 3.need wave splash and seaform. ................ I very much hope to join their production team, obligations. :salute: |
Be careful what you wish for.
Ubi might tie your skills.

I don't agree the seawater of SH5
From the figure reflected in the seawater, I think it is the failure of the seawater. http://img127.imagevenue.com/loc839/..._122_839lo.jpg http://img171.imagevenue.com/loc1177...122_1177lo.jpg But the splash to be successful .Not enough water reflection |
no wind no waves no foam
Too early to tell really, in those pics not much wind.
Environment is supposed to be better in SH5.:woot: |
It certainly is not wet enough :hmmm:
|
It seems to be same as in SH4 :(
I want to see real water finally that wakes crashes when sub/ship hits them... Not just a textured sealevel that changes itself and run through the boat upwards/downwards without any collision (no more flying submarines in 15m per sec weather). I hope they change this, but since engine seems to be pretty much ready by now, I really dont know. |
I'd like to see a few more movie clips before making any judgement.
|
4. Variable clarity. Sometimes the water is so clear you can see the bottom 100 feet or more below your ship. Sometimes you can't see one foot down from the surface.
|
I think that is too early to judge the game, perhaps they will use a improved Sh4 engine with more effects and DX10 graphics, but with the enviroment mods could be really amazing :)
|
Game companies are notorious for touching up their screenshots, so I think making a judgment based on the two or three we have is very premature.
|
The GamesCom trailer is a movie trailer, like the intro movie of SHIII. Made with game elements but postprocessed with cinematic filters, the same for all the press screenshots. The real game graphics will differ from the trailer, as in SHIII. Only when real ingame movies or screenshots can be seen, we will be able to assess how the water in the game will look.
|
Water graphics are exactly the type of thing that cannot be judged until very late in the process. Small changes to water physics values and/or missing shaders can make a huge difference to the final appearance.
|
Those screens are pretty good (realistic in DX10 terms, if you click on that preview link, first 5 screens are actual gameplay last 2 not [[ I only wish that once will actual diving procedure look as good as on 7th screen, 6th is some strange drawing ]] and trailer is ofcourse, scripted).
Only thing I don`t like is water - so far it looks same as in SH4 (as I said, even if it`s maybe only "test water engine", I don`t think they gonna change whole engine in those 7 months left). Edit: About "shaders and values", I think they gonna need to reprocess whole engine not just some values. I wouldn`t care even for that "oily and plastic" look, If they just implemented real physics engine where boat would go through waves (big wave hitting coning tower etc.) and not water through ship... |
On a DD the flying bridge gets spray,on 03 deck.

Well... I can almost garente that you will see better water effects.. but nothing like say... crysis or something...

Das Boot bridge is a movie set on a stage with buckets of water being tossed on it and a big fan. I saw one just like it at Disney World. I don't want a movie set like Das Boot. I want a real submarine, or failing that, a good simulation of one.
|
No, I dont like the water (at this stage at least). The sub seems to be riding over a dull plastic bag full of water, no good reflections.
Yes, is too early to know how it will look like (not like THIS I hope!) EDIT: my god, I can see dynamic shadow is NOT implemented at all (at least on exterior shots)..... how could this be? looks awfully a lot like SHIV engine.... |
No matter what they do in the end its a simulation and cannot reflect reality espically something as dynamic as water.
All they can do is some graphic representation of water. Furthermore keeping in mind that there is a limit to computing power and to put vast amounts of overhead in the game for 'perfect' water would bring alot of systemes to their knees. Some comprimise must be met. In the end you cannot satisfy everyone, just do the best job you can and move on. |
