/facepalm EDIT: On the subject of D2, i understand theres some unofficial high resolution patch out. (IE, some mod), anyone try it yet? EDIT2: Hmmmmmm, Diablo 2 High Resolution Mod EDIT 3: Diablo II in HD 1920x1080 EDIT 4: (new edit record?) Watching them, it sems like it might make everything too small. Wider field of view, but everything smaller. Not sure i like that or not. EDIT 5: If you do try to reinstall D2, manually patch it to version 1.12. The high res patch doesnt work on the latest version (1.13c I beleive). Nostalgia is a funny thing. I played 5 minutes of Diablo 2 and suddenly all the hotkey mapping came back to me like i just played it yesterday. Unfortunetly D2 looks entirely too dated to be palatable. |
I still aim to get D3 but will wait awhile, I read it takes up to 4 hrs for some to install and the Dc'd to DT every 30min or so with lost saves :dead: But apart from the negatives like the drm etc I too can hear the voices in my head so your not alone. Dont be afraid its just the demons calling you, its a test of faith be strong and stand firm against the evil within you. That demon calling himself Bal offered me all the kingdoms in the world if I buy D3 now! I admit I did think about it for a few seconds but no I shot back with 'A man does not live on bread alone' well that's what Jesus said to Satan! But it didn't work! He laughed, that bone chilling laugh the hairs on your neck stand up with fear laugh then he started with the abuse. So I said the lords prayer 10 times over while he was screaming obscenities at me. Then, silence. I could hear my heart beating madly, dragging on a cigarette butt I stump it out and gulped down my last bit of coffee and braced myself for whats to come. Oh I will get Diablo 3 there's no doubt about that and I will wear the armor of the lord! who shall protect me from the evil that wants to consume my very soul! I will fight Diablo and his minions for the righteous and those who have been slain in the past. Good v Evil this is what its all about guys. Diablo 3 is not just a game its the real thing! So stand firm in the face of evil and save your soul. There's a storm coming...
Anyway so I went to buy Kingdoms of Amular priced at $79 as I said in a previous post I am going to get KoA first instead of D3, but right next to it was Deus ex human revolution for $15, a 3 day sale. I bought Deus Ex instead, this is how a rpg shooter is meant to be its fantastic. Not to mention I died alot at the start :dead: With no work Saturday night I am off to load up DX. |

Diablo Players: We’d like to extend a very sincere thank you to everyone who joined the global Diablo III launch celebrations this week, as well as to everyone who was ready to jump into Sanctuary the moment the game went live. To that end, we’d also like to say that we’ve been humbled by your enthusiasm -- and we sincerely regret that your crusade to bring down the Lord of Terror was thwarted not by mobs of demons, but by mortal infrastructure. As many of you are aware, technical issues occurring within hours after the game's launch led to players experiencing error messages and difficulty logging in. These issues cropped up again last night for the Americas and Europe servers. Despite very aggressive projections, our preparations for the launch of the game did not go far enough. We’ve been monitoring the game 24/7 and have applied several optimizations to help our systems better weather the global rush. As of late last night, specifically 11:50 PM PDT on May 15, all systems have been online and running relatively smoothly. We’re continuing to monitor performance globally and will be taking further measures as needed to ensure a positive experience for everyone. This includes some maintenance to implement additional improvements for each region. In order to make sure everything is continuing to run as it should, we’ve decided to move out our target launch for the real-money auction house beyond our original estimated date of May 22. We’ll post further updates on that in the near future. Aside from the tremendous number of players simultaneously logging in to the game, one of the launch-day service issues was linked to the achievement system. Some players began to notice early on that achievements were either not being earned properly, or not being saved between multiple logins. We’re investigating this issue and will provide a specific update as soon as possible. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support, and we want to sincerely apologize for the difficulties many of you encountered on day one. Please visit the Battle.net Support site or Support forums for the latest service-related updates or for help in troubleshooting any technical issues you may be having downloading, installing, or while playing the game. Thank you again for your patience while we reinforce the gates of Sanctuary and further strengthen it for your onslaught. Respectfully, Blizzard Entertainment |
just my two-pennies worth ,
I got it on Friday , It took me about 30 mins to install the game , I dont know where that 4 hours is coming from , it installed very quickly on my PC. I am playing on the Euro region and have yet to see any connection issues at all. Ive probably played a total of 8-9 hours so far. Im enjoying it , I didnt think I would , but its good fun. Its simple hack and slash choas - it reminds me of 'Gauntlet' from the 80's.. last night I even found a legendary item...I was very pleased to see it drop! |

seriously now...I may be repeating myself now, but, when I discovered that there is an auction house for REAL money I thought: ok, they won't turn me into another of their whores. I mean- I can pay. When I know that everyone else pays too. But turning it into a quasi-voluntary system is sooo freaking perverse...(that is why I don't play any of these "free online" games/strategies... |
I'll pick up Diablo3, when its not saddled with a DRM that requires an internet connection at all times. I learned my lesson with SH5,
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=1398 never again will i make a fanboy purchase. |
Ducimus, your DRM-related post made me check the "availability" of D3 on..."these sites". So, I typed in Diablo 3, pressed "search" and to my surprise I saw this: Seeders:1323, Leechers: 2700. My reaction was "yay" until I saw this:
"Installation: 1. Download and unzip release * ! 2. Start setup.exe and install the game 3. a) Legit users - Play! b) Proud pirates - Wait for working server emulator!" :DL |

Pre-ordered the digital edition. Pre-downloaded, and tried to install. Corrupt. Download again, and install corrupt. AGAIN. Corrupt. Finally after two tries on launch day, it installs. Cannot connect to server. Ok fine. Try again. Play for 30min get the 3007 error. GREAT :damn: the only thing that seems to fix the 3007 error is logging into general chat and watching gold spammers. :damn: awesome if I wanted that I would go back and play SWTOR. |

Bad luck with the corruption , I just popped down to tescos and got a DVD... |
Well, i found a little gem that guarantees ill never get Diablo 3 for five reasons:
1.) Gameplay is just like Diablo 2, so the gameplay probably isn't far off from Diablo 3 as well. 2.) Graphically it's way better then Diablo 2, and while not stellar by today's standards, it is acceptable. 3.) No DRM if you don't count steam. 4.) 20 dollar price tag. 5.) Doesn't look like freaking Anime Titan Quest Gold. Interestingly, Diablo 2 was released in the year 2000; and you know, it really shows. Titan quest was released in 2006, and you can really tell the difference. If you try the demo, and your OS is WIN7 ultimate 64 bit, you'll have to run the exe in WinXP compatiblity mode, with the full version I haven't had any problems at all. If you get the gold edition, start with Immortal throne. Its like the LOD expansion for Diablo 2 in that it supersedes the original. Anyway, if the release of Diablo 3 has left you jonesing for some more old school diablo styled action, can't stand the antiquated graphics of D1 and D2, but your put off by the DRM and other crap blizzard has done with D3, this game is well worth a look into. Im amazed i haven't heard of/ tried this game before. I should thank blizzard for their stupidty that inspired me to look for alternatives to Diablo 3. |

Torchlight 2 v Diablo 3 http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05...geon-crawlers/ |
I don't agree, I think Titan Quest was far better than Torchlight 1 on many levels. TQ wasn't quite so clone brush, and you went to different places (not just deeper and deeper). The character and skill system was way more deep. I also found that TL just got rather boring quickly.

Diablo III: some religion-based names banned; Monk class powers reduced
Should you wish to name your Diablo III character Atheist, Christian, Mormon, Hindu or Islam, you are out of luck. The names have been banned by Blizzard, which would be quite an annoyance if your name actually was Christian. Catholic is also banned, yet Protestant isn;t. Muhammad, Buddhism and Scientology are also allowed. Make of that what you will. Elsewhere, Diablo III Monk class has had its healing powers reduced. We're in the process of removing the on-use benefits of the Mantra of Healing rune, Boon of Protection, said Blizzard. Following the fix, the amount of damage absorbed is now capped at the amount of healing provided by Mantra of Healing in the first three seconds after activation. Blizzard has recommended discontinuing use of the rune until it is replaced with a new rune mechanic in a future patch. The Boon of Protection rune was approximately ten times over its budget on the benefits it provided, and it was quite simply a mistake on our part to let the rune ship as it was. We don't intend to take these quick and drastic measures often, but considering the severity of the issue, we felt it important to correct it swiftly. A full list of recent hotfixes will be provided by Blizzard tomorrow. http://tinyurl.com/87sd9mv |
