Most of you know me by now, but in short, I'm a native Texan, 50, located in Houston, and I like long walks in the moonlight. Have to consider myself a fan of Theodore Dreiser, Bruce Springsteen, and Wolf Peterson. Motorcycle rider since forever! Been playing computer games off and on since 1979. Blue Max was my first simulation.

A hearty welcome fellow Houstonian though I'm living in Mexico now.

You're going to love the people on this forum. They seem to always find someone who will happily and Helpful find the answer for almost anything you can come up with.

Best of luck!

Greetings from Wales

Been messing around with Silent Hunter for a little while, started with SHIII but jacked it in as it stopped loading correctly. Dived into SHV when Onlive allowed me to play it for a quid but Error 42 cheesed me off so much that I jacked that in too!
I bought SHV on a disc last week so I'm here now, some install/setup niggles but I'll get there, maybe I need a change to these:
Intel Celeron 2.40GHz
2Meg RAM
GeForce 6200
XP with svce pack 3

??????????

Yeah, not a strange face here for some of you (I certainly hope not!) but I only bought the game some days ago...first impressions aren't all that good I'm afraid, but I am perfectly willing to give the game a chance, since I loved III and IV :)

Hailing from County Durham in England, I've played a little on SH3 (GWX) but never really got into it . I got SH5 from my son for Christmas and have slowly but surely stated to master some things that I never did on SH3. Many more tutorials and videos out there for SH5 it seems so that is a big plus. For novices there is such a big learning curve but I have decided to take lots of little steps and not expct too much too soon. I am also staggered by the number of MODs available for SH5 and this was another reason to have another go at the Silent Hunter series. No doubt I will have a re-look at SH3 as well in due course. Good to see a thriving community

Hi, my name is Xavi and I am from Tarragona, Spain.

I've played SHIII a few years ago and loved the game. Unfortunately we changed our computers for macs and I was unable to play more.

A few days ago, my partner installed a windows 7 partition in one of the macs and I googled Silent Hunter and discovered SH5 and bought immediately.

Now I'm trying to learn to play again and to decide what the best mods are to be installed, so any advice would be highly appreciated, I'm a bit lost with all the information I've found here!

I love wargames and simulators.

Best Regards,

Xavi
