New here but i have been playiing Battle Field 1942 and its mods for a few years and still love it. Don't play now as i am very addicted to THis wonderful game. I have not played another subgame since Wolfpack way back when VGA was king. Just bought Blitzcreag but have not gotten off SHIII to try it out. I love games! but just dont' have the time with a new 1 month old baby and 2 year old boy.

In order of their total domination of my free time and absolute coolness:

1. X-COM -UFO Defence (1994)
2. IL-2 / FB / PF
3. Close Combat series (all of them)
4. SHIII
5. Op Flashpoint + all addons ( Still the most realistic land combat game ever, total freedom of maneuver).
6. Microprose PAW / then EAW
7. M1 Tank Platoon II
8. Microprose GUNSHIP! ( I dug it even though it was nearly impossibly hard to play).
9. Far Cry ( I think it spanks HL2, dont know why but I just love the
weapons, AI, and free range openess of this game.)
10. Grand Theft Auto III and up.

And for Multiplayer, hands down BF1942 and BFII, though Joint OPS if cool too.

And as for games I think are/were highly overated:

1. Call of Duty (It just does nothing for me, way to much action at once and feels like its on rails (no freedom of maneuver).
2. Anything from ROWAN (BOB, Korea, all of them)
3. Every sub sim before SHIII except for AOD. ( I'm talking WWII sims not modern).
4. Microsofts CFS series.
5. LOMAC (I guess modern combat sims are to hard for me when the HUD and instruments are in Russian.

I like to play:
1.Silent Hunter series(I could run SH1 in my pc recently with D-Fend!)
2.Teitoku no Ketsudan series by Koei(this is a simulation game based on the Pacific war; you are playing as the Commander in Chief of Japan or US, and form and command your fleet or give orders to bases you occupied.... your story will be unfolded on the Pacific.)

My Top 10 PC games of all time in no particular order:

1) Myth: The Fallen Lords ---- made by Bungie studios before Microsoft bought them because they wanted Bungie's next game, Halo, to be an Xbox launch title. Myth was the first ever true 3d squad level real time tactical game and it was a masterpiece in every way, both single player and multi-player.

2) All the Infinity Engine Role-playing games (too hard to pick just one.) Planescape, Baldur's Gate I and II, Icewind Dale I and II. No fantasy RPGs have ever come close to these games in pure fantasy roleplaying, story and tactical level strategy gaming excellence.

3) Medal of Honor: Allied Assualt ---- The D-Day Normandy invasion level will go down in history as one of the greatest, most immersive, cinematic, teeth clenching game levels in gaming ever created. Multi-player was top notch as well. Many of the designers left Electonic Arts and formed Infinity Ward which created Call of Duty1 and 2.

4) SHIII ---- I won't preach to the choir except to say that few games have ever matched the simulation experience, graphics, depth of gameplay, realism, replayability and devoted mod community as this game embodies.

5) Everquest ---- Nothing can compare to the experience of entering this living, persistent, 3D gameworld for the first time. A truly mesmerizing experience. No game has ever replicated the absolute fear, awe, and joy in exploring a virtual world than this one.

6) Half-Life 2 ---- The best ever FPS game ever made.

7) Farcry ---- The other best FPS game ever made.

8) Vampire: The Masquerade ---- One of the most underated games ever. For pure immersiveness, roleplaying and adult oriented open ended fun, this game is a must have.

9) Zork I ---- text based adventure game that did more to create a generation of PC gamers than probably any game ever has.

10) You Don't Know Jack I and II (and others) ---- A brilliant series of irrverant trivia games that have generated more laughs, good hearted competition and pure fun in my home than any other compliation of bits and bytes to be sketched into my hard drive.
