I agree CaptainHaplo the game is a breath of fresh air in the modern games world. Stuff like this doesn't come along often anymore. Everytime I get frustrated or squad wiped I shut it off and swear at it but I keep turning it back on and coming back.

Close enough :hmmm:

Same thing here! It really is amazing how they streamlined the game, but kept the spirit of the original. If I must say something negative, it's the fact that aliens don't attack the base (well that's what I heard) and that the cars blow up too easily. Other than that it's just perfect! I really hope that they make some expansion packs and continue to work with the game!

SH 5 has to wait until the alien threat has been neutralized... :D

Drewcifer 10-14-12 04:39 PM

Oh how I hate the cyberdisk... when that thing rolls in out of the black you just look at your squad and go... atleast one of you is about to die.

HunterICX 10-14-12 05:11 PM

^

Well encountered them twice and both times all my members walked away from it in one piece....just isolate the thing and yeah well throw everything at it (grenades, rockets etc and stay clear as it explodes when it dies)

haha..... defeated though you lost no battles. That is awesome. The strategy layer is hard you have to churn out lites like your launching the nasa space program or something just to actually win the game and when you do that you have to sacrifice gear for the early and mid game which is brutal when mutons show up and you have no armor and standard balistics.

HunterICX 10-15-12 04:13 AM

Aye the game is just sadistic at times....brutally murdering you in every way possible.

Wish I could get a hint regarding the amount of council members I can miss because I planned to keep full control over Europe, North America and Africa (which I had) and well leave Asia and South America for what it is....clearly as shown above that didn't work out.

Just like with the original...you hate it sooooo much but yet you keep playing and start all over again.:D
(Glad that keyboards back in the day where made out of sturdier stuff)

You can lose up to 8 Council member states before the game ends. The Doom Tracker on the top left of the map in the situation room shows how close you are to that.

Yeah I thought so that the bar of red doom was a bad sign when it started to get bigger.

but now I know the amount of nations where I can just watch and see it all go to hell.....I mean dramatically have a single tear rolling down my cheek while trying to hold my maniacal laughter...I mean not to cry as innocent people are beeing slaughtered.

Thank you
*starts scratching nations of a list*
don't need you...and you....you....mmm

Had a terror mission go very bad. Lost my whole squad to the spider-looking aliens and "zombies".

Yay, lost most of my experienced troops. :nope:

Researched carapace armor afterwards. They are somewhat more protected now compared to the standard armor.

Until I met Mutons. :nope:

whyme943 10-15-12 06:07 AM

Spoiler alert: the final boss can control your troops minds. That's a bad thing when you have psionic flying plasma rifle toting supersoldiers.

whyme943 10-15-12 06:10 AM

Also: UFO: Alien Invasion. Go get it. It's free

Mutons aren't bad, especially given the choice of having them or a Cyberdisc...I would go for Mutons anyday.

I had the luck of having them both in 1 missions :/\\!!

Don't rush it anymore than other missions. I do what I can on those, but really getting my guys through that is more important.

But it certainly can go south in a heartbeat...

It's a miracle I only lost half the team on op. Stone Law. Moved everyone to cover from deployment, 2 thin man come into view on their turn and the reaction shots failed to kill anything. Before I could do anything substantial, I was in contact with every bloody enemy on the map at once, including a Cyberdisc.

Not a good day. :shifty:

Oberon 10-15-12 07:52 AM

Terror mission in Cairo.

Walk out of Skyranger...receive Cyberdisc and three Sectoids.

Arclight 10-15-12 08:20 AM

It's the smaller maps that really hurt. Barely make a move before making contact, and after that patrols start wandering into the fight. Run out of ammo halfway through and yer toast. :-?

Raptor1 10-15-12 08:35 AM

Nah, some of the smaller maps are definitely death traps, but it's the larger landed/crashed UFO maps that are the real problem. You try to take your time fighting some Sectoids and suddenly your flanks are filled with Mutons and Floaters... :shifty:

Or Mutons & Chrysalids... thank god I had plenty of rockets with me, the game,
FOR A CHANGE, decided I really should not hit those Mutons from point-blank
range with a machine gun. :shifty:
