Even with GWX, making the game being harder, and reading the bugs of SH4 and his first patch, SH3 will never fade away, at least I know how the allies think...;)

The subconscious fascination with the deadliness and danger surrounding that actual event, I guess. That's what war sims are about: A save and slender simulation of the deathly danger and the unbelievable intense adrenalin "kick" real war and battle stress causes on you.

Now that sounds a tad smart assed, I know, but I think that's it if I'm honest.

Cheers,

As long as you are sailing in an old diesel boat...

Its all GOOD!!! :arrgh!:

As some one who served on DE boats i got to agree with ya mate either way you get to play with them with both games with the unique opportunity to be either the bad guys oir the good guys, and oif you have 2 pc's both at the same time. Now theres an idea time to talk the missius into letting me get a second system:yep:

One thing ive really learned from playing this game, is an even deeper appreciation for the history of the time period, and i dont think any of it should be belittled out of bias.

Comenow, have a bit of humour. We needn't take it so seriously. The whole point of my synopsis was that I knew the short ignoramt version of it that can be summed up in a brief TV show. As a matter of fact I have been reading a bit into the Pacific Theatre. I don't mean to offend anyones sensitivities. The whole symopsis was meant to be a demonstration of how much I know just from my ignorant, pre research place. And honestly I'm sure that I know more than 1/2 of the noobs walking into Subsim over the weekend.

Sorry to have ruffled yor feathers Ducimus, particularly when you're just making your entree into the new frontier of silent hunter. I have total respect for the men who fought there. The Atlantic isn't BETTER. I just know more about it. Hell I did what you did; I read every freaking book I could find!

Now can't we all just get along? We're all supposed to be on the same side anyway.:)

Ducimus 03-22-07 05:56 PM

No you didnt ruffle my feathers. Being short on sleep, and not having had my morning coffee makes me one unhappy panda and it show's. Sort of like posting under the influence

Deep-Six 03-22-07 08:57 PM

My heart will always be w/ the Atlantic, but the Pacific has its appeal also.

I will have both games on my hdd if and whenever I get SH4.

SH3 will NOT DIE!!!!!:D

Jimbuna 03-23-07 11:32 AM

It looks to me like SH4 is having the same 'birth' that SH3 had :yep:
Pretty dissapointed to open the recognition manual and find only 2 types of U.S carriers

Long live SH3/GWX  :arrgh!:

This is the only game that has kept my attention for this long. I go home I play I tinker I read I lurk on this site for more ideas its my hobby. I'm sure sometime this weekend (when the leafs arent destroying the Sabres) I will throw in Das Boot and watch it for the 100th time while the game runs in the background. This game is capable of so much. Everytime you start a new carreer its different or atleast feels different. In a way this game has forced me to take a look at the other side of the story. I never want to be 250m below the surface with ship dropping tin cans but there are nights when I swear I have been through it. I feel relieve when I survive and I'm devisated when I lose a ship. It really can take you away. One day I might purchase SIV but my rig right now can't handle it and I"m more then satisfied with SHIII.

Bernard Dummkopf 03-23-07 03:16 PM

I will stay with SHIII too... not that anyone cares...I don't think that there is a place for a Bernard in the Pacific scenario.
Too many sharks :gulp: and too less ubootcomrade(s) to hunt for ;)

Cheerio!

Nightmare 03-23-07 03:23 PM

I picked up SH4 yesterday and I'm enjoying. The bottom line is SH3 has been around for more than 2 years now, and it has an established modding community with great mods. SH3+GWX is my perfect fix when it comes to the Atlantic theater so it will continue to remain on my harddrive. SH4 will get more play time intially, but then it'll be a "what ever I'm in the mood for" after awhile.
