I just bought this game last week and have played it some but I have some
reservations about how advanced it is. If you compare it to some of the other modern FPS games during the past year like BF2, GR2 and AW2, it really doesn't make the grade as they all have 1. Larger Maps 2. Use all Vehicles 3. Have the same or BETTER weapons-type playing. 4. Better color & graphics. I have just seen a demo of the new Crysis game due out soon. Even though the monster stuff in it really turns me off, I have to admit that the graphical ability of the men, weapons and landscape is light-years ahead of the COD4 stuff. Watch the demo and you will see what i mean. If Crysis could be modded to be historical realistic, It would be MY choice in a truly advanced FPS game.... JIM |

yeah, the AC-130 mission is pure gold. It's kinda funny to listen to the calm voice of the pilot.
kaboom.... Whoopsydaisy.... OH! That gotta hurt.... Yeah you got him, I see tiny little bits flying everywhere:arrgh!: |
I just spent an hour playing the Cyrsis SP demo and I thought it was great !!
All the settings were set to LOW so I could get a feel for how good/bad the graphics were. I thought they were so much better than COD4 even at low settings. I loved the huge sprawling map and objects when you bump them, actually fall over. In my opinion, Crysis makes COD4 look like 10 year old shareware. Crysis will be out next week and from what I see in the ads, its $10 cheaper than COD4 too..... JIM |
This game arrived in my post early today and i just finish the SP few hrs ago:nope: about 6 hrs gameplay! lol. Still its true to the cod games fast & hectic enemy never stop coming. The mini nuke scene was cool my character died, if i replay the game again can i save him from dying:hmm: Oh and the sniper mission rocked!
MP is total madness only tried Free for all alot of fun but a bit too easy, hell i spawn camped for an hr or so just so i can get my skills up :rotfl: |
yup
Yeah, there may be plenty of ww2 games but there are plenty of moder warfare and to be honest, Modern Warfare is so boring. It jst depresses me. P{eople say that all ww2 situations have been dealt with. There are so many possible situations you can do. More ww2 leaving out Normany beach head etc. its been done i dont know ho many times before.

Yep, didn't take me too long to finish the SP. Did you collect all the enemy intel? Did you play the final (secret) SAS mission which is after the Credits?
No you can't save your character after the nuke scene. Even though I paid out a lot for this game, the SP is fast & intense. The story really draws you in & MP is just awesome, esp with the Perks applied to your MP character. I'm glad I bought it. MP gets much harder in the different lobbies. Free 4 All is just to improve your MP rank (which you already know). Wish I could camp out to boost my Rank, Free 4 All is locked to 15min a time then a new area is loaded. I think the other Lobbies have a higher time limit but I need to increase my rank to unlock them.:damn: |
Yep did the bonus mission dont get me wrong this game is awesome i just thought the SP could of been a bit longer, but like you said it does draw you into it and its good to see COD now modern warfare, WW2 theme was great but ive personally had enough of ww2 themes where i dont think i would of brought the game if it was ww2 again.
I might load her up and try out Search and Destroy MP. Free for all was alot of fun, there were times i would respawn and a guy would respawn right in front of me so i would nail him before he could even move only for me to be nailed by the guy who just respawn behind me. |
For me, COD4 goes on the shelf till they get it right. By right, I mean,
large maps 10x the now size and driveable land, sea & air vehicles. ALL the other modern FPS game are made this way, why not COD4??????? JIM |
Oki-doki.

Another Patch ???
YES, you heard me, there is yet another new patch 1.3 out for
COD4. Must be something terribly wrong to require this many patches in so many days. Infinity Ward, lets get the patch the gets those postage stamp run-n-gun maps 10x larger so the players can have some drivable vehicles. Until that happens, COD:UO is still the best in my opinion..... JIM |
I remember the days when people were happy to see a patch showing up to fix bugs....
And what's this urge for driving things? If everybody else is doing it, then why should IW do so too? CoD4 is good enough without driveable tanks etc. |
Well im really enjoying COD 4 on the PS3, i find it easier to play FPS on a console.
Am really getting into the MP side of the game now after finshing the single player side of the game which i thought was ace. But could have been so so much longer. As for all the patches for the PC version of the game. We are still waiting for the 1st patch for the PS3 version and it is driving some of the members of the PS3 forums mad  |
Amazing that somebody could by pissed by a company that promptly patches it's games.
Last I checked,my characters were SAS and Marine...neither one of which is qualified to drive a tank anyway. I always considered it to be totally unrealistic for an Infantry or Special Forces character to be able to hop in a tank and drive it or hop into a plane and fly it. At least WW2 on-line got that part right. |
For what it is, a cinematic rail-shooter, COD4 is absolutely superb. Great visuals, storytelling and ambient sound. I've actually restarted it a number of times and
But what is killing me are the weapon sounds. On my Audigy 2, 5.1 speakers, they have to be easily the worst I've ever heard. They sound slightly better than the guns in SEAL team. On the ship level, I found myself picking up all sorts of dropped weapons in the hopes of finding a decent-sounding one. I do like the combined ragdoll-death animations (especially the one where the bonhomme spirals to the ground, AK rattling off on full auto into the air), but they run waaay too fast. I know IRL when drilled by a couple of FMJ rounds most people would drop like a sack of potatoes, but not so fast as to defy laws of physics. It's a minor point, I suppose, nowhere near as agravating as the garbage weapon sounds. |
