You've kinda answered your own question there.

In other words, whilst SH4 will appeal to a sub-set (punny) of SH3 modders, it won't appeal to all because quite simply SH4 is a totally different theatre to SH3. Just like we'll never see some new SH4 modders get involved with SH3.

I strongly believe that SH3 will continue to be popular until beyond the release of the next Atlantic-based SH instalment (ie after it has a few patches under its belt ;)).

P_Funk 03-22-07 05:42 AM

True. Though I do think I'll eventually get involved in SH4 as more than just a gawker. A new modding community should be interesting to watch. Also I'd like to see how SH3 modding will affect SH4. What will carry over, what will be inspired by some things, what will be thought up that was never done in SH3?

Its a brave new world out there off of the Kriegsmarine grids.

It's not all new.;) about 25% (maybe more) of the files in SH4 are from SH3.:88)

In fact the graphics for all the German ports are still in there.:rotfl:Hmm, where does Kiel, Wilhelmshaven, Lorient etc fit into a PTO?

Possible Expansion pack???:hmm:

robbierob2005 03-22-07 05:58 AM

NO!!!!

With all the bugs SH4 has I think I'll keep it with SH3 for now. Also with all the mods (like GWX) I think that SH3 is an teriffic game. I also prefer the atlantic theatre so I'll keep playing Sh3 until they develop a new Uboot-Subsim.
Perhaps Sh5?

Kumando 03-22-07 05:59 AM

I would like to see some fetures imported from Sh4 to Sh3, like survivors and extra missions( photo reconaissance etc.)

Hmmmm, well with all the left over SH3 stuff in there maybe one day it will benefit a SH4 to SH3 mod team, at which point SH3 and SH4 will be one in the same.:sunny:

LOL, why are you guys talking as if the GWX Dev Team is done?

We still have a few things to do yet... some of them quite important I think.

We are most of the way home... but hope to tie up those loose ends.

Besides, I really think that any future U-boat sim set in the Atlantic/Indian Ocean etc... will really have a monstrous amount of work to do to be comparable to the totality of the content in GWX.

Not bragging here... it is simply a testament to the dedication our guys brought to the table.

I don't think GWX is anywhere near over. I'm just speculating on the possible future. Isn't that what we always do? Whats the next GWX patch gonna add? Hey why not do this with the next SH3 Cmdr! How long before you guys break into Ubi and steal the SDK?

We're just a bunch of kids who expect christmas to come every other day.

I installed SH3 like 4-5 months ago(playing COD and CoH) got Sh4 two days ago but I'm not that impressed with it.So today I've reinstalled SH3 GWX and i can tell you I enjoy it more then SH4.Give Sh4 another go after patch and see

Definitely. Looks pretty and uses some tactics. I was a bit put off by their online community though. Some real mean uber-players there. "You don't know what you're talking about noob. Feck off."

Another reason why SH3 is still my primary game.

Have you done any reading on the US "silent service" during WW2? I ask because alot of people who say that, don't really know all that much about it.

I know the short "History Channel" version. Blah blah blah... day that will live in infamy... yadda yadda torpedoes dont work... blah ble blah blah... munitions people swear they do and that the entire Silent Service is just retarded (but not like Rainman cause he's actually good at numbers)... yadda yadda yadda... new guy takes over subs and fixes the issues and BINGO the Nips haven't a chance.

Do you have any idea how ignorant that sounds? Thats like me turning around and saying:
" Well there was this country called Nazi germany, And because they were such dumbasses, couldnt get a surface fleet, so they had to resort to using submarines. At the start they did good because the allies didnt put up much of a fight. But once the allies got their act together and starting fighting back, Nazi submarines were littering the ocean floors in droves. They were ineffectual, and failed utterly at their mission, and they all wasted their lives in vein. End of story."
