Reticle in UZO is black, again shouldn't it be light green at night?

Perhaps I need to reinstall some mod I had?

Game play is great, load time a little excessive, long time for missions to load up as well.

You just hit my only Cons to GWX

Things that impress the crap outta me

1) Just of the East cost of England I did a hydro check and think I hear DOLPHINS?! WOW

2) Lighted ships...VERY COOL as I was pulling out of Willemshaven a tanker was coming in and passed 500m from my port... WOW WOW WOW

3) Modified Damage model VERY COOL

4) Modified Uboat behaviour in the sea ( rocking, pitching, rolling) WAAAAAYY COOOL.

5) all the radio traffic.... VERY COOL

Basically GWX... VERY COOL :|\\ Great job team!

Yes, the dolphins have sounds that can be listen on hydrophones!! And when you listen them just check that box on the notepad on Hydrophone screen and you can see them with the external camera...with sounds! They are now on the RND all over the world!
GWX have a lot, perhaps hundreds, of others good news that aren't on the manual.
Some examples:

-Almost all ports have now land defenses (and no more that camera bug),
-The icebergs now follow waypoints and will be visually detected by your crew (with a little luck you will find then now on the game!)
-A lot of new airplanes and some of them with rockets against you (sergbuto mod added on GWX)!
-Some planes in take off pattern,
-Allied subs (submerged and surfaced) in historical patrol areas that can detect you and call for reinforcement. You also can detect them before and then try to sink them!
-AA on the roof of the sub pens on Germany ports,
-thousands of corrections on the RND waypoints (before this a lot of them could hit the land)
-A new weather system behaviour: the most realistic and fun possible until now for sure! No more that long patrols with the same weather! (notice that we don't recommend the use of the Weather Generator mod with GWX - it's not more necessary - but it's compatible if you prefer it anyway)
-A deep revision on the Campaign files with more historical Sea battles and main WWII operations (far more than ANY mod until now), new historical traffic on the RND all over the world, a deep adjust on the single contact issue, adjusts on the flotillas file with better historical patrol grids per flotilla, etc, etc: So, the best live world for SH3 ever!

We on the GWX Campaign Team will write a complete addendum for the GWX manual with all the news very soon.

Very much looking forward to the 'read' :yep:

Im not convinced by GWx weather. My 4th patrol was 4 weeks of "wind: 15" and my first 2 had 2/3 weeks of "wind 15". This was in the Med in summer.

No biggie tho, I've just started useing SH3Weather again.

I've only had the odd storm so far that has lasted for a few hours :hmm:

Well, GWX is precisely what I expected. It's VERY pretty in all ways, and likewise very heavy on graphics at some points. I might have to step down to either lower visibility or lighter harbor traffic, my PC is choking in Kiel. A lot of awesome new features, and great job on ships. The damage appears to be quite intuitive and balanced for most people's preferences. Well let's face it, most of everything is. As a night-time hunter, I loudly protest the impossible-to-see nights :p

Everything looks to have been thoroughly tested. So far GWX seems to be the least problematic of any mods released - smooth as silk, no serious oversights, nothing (within the reach of modding anyway) to take away your suspension of disbelief. It's not too hard, not too easy. It's very intuitive to play.

And thus as I said before, I now have a dual-install of SHIII with GWX and NYGM. However I think NYGM is still going to be the core of my play (don't shoot! I'm just being true to my own sense of 'right feel'). In truth my own perfect SHIII is still somewhere in the grey area between super-mods. But having GWX is a must for everyone now as it stands!

GWX and NYGM

HI CCIP,
Interesting I was wondering how you managed to dual install both NYGM and GWX, I too am a long time fan of NYGM and a bit loath to loose it, especially the improved destroyer and escort patrols ion UK waters. GWX is pretty good thought, way ahead of the previous Grey Wolves.

I used to play with the original Grey Wolves and NYGM but there were too many bugs, so I dropped GW, now I wonder if the two can be superimposed without problems.

Any thoughts

Well, my own way of doing it is stupidly simple and not 100% fool-proof, but is working so far: I have two copies of the SHIII data folder which I re-name as appropriate - that is, when I want to play GW, I name GW 'data' and rename NYGM into 'nygm', and vice versa. Before doing that, I also 'roll back' SHIII commander and replace the neccesary files in its config folder (from either GW or NYGM).

Seems to work quite fine so far; although I can't switch mods while on patrol, otherwise saves are lost.

Bigboywooly, could you please specify which file contains these messages? I am thinking of replacing that message with "WA: Gun loading". This way I wouldn't know if the ship goes down while hitting it with the deck gun. Of course it will be odd to see this message with submerged torpedo attack, but better than the current one.

BTW, was the message "Depth charges in the water" removed?

Thanks.

Same here, so will get shot with you (you will feel less lonely :D)
Will use NYGM for the serious stuff in the Atlantic and GWX for more exotic patrols in the Med, Black Sea and Far East.

Well I put it through its paces and there are indeed some nice features in GWX. Then I had a long hard think:

I miss the pull out manual targeting interfaces ion NYGM
I miss the way the boat handles in NYGM,
I miss the torpedo behaviour in NYGM,
I like GWX ship damage and sinkinng model as its quicker than NYGM but visually the two appear the same IMHO
The harbour traffic makes my PC choke and NYGM harbour traffic didn't
My gut is telling me that NYGM "handles" more like a real sub (though i've no experience in a real sub)

I will use GWX on my next WaW patrol but so far, well, I have to admit that I'm inclinded to roll back to NYGM. Its not to say that GWX is not a great mod because it obviously is but I, personally, don't really need the visual enhancements it brings to enjoy the game. But I do need NYGMs sub handling and research based "realism" tweaks to enjoy WaW....which is the only reason I play SH3 anymore.

Anyway, i'll probably have a better oppinion after my next patrol.

Cheers, Hans.

Its Xmas so lets all be a little bit more friendly around here....hey if everyone in the world was just 1% nicer each day then maybe there might be a chance for this old rock after all.

No probs mate...after all 'one coat will never fit all sizes' we all have our own preferences :yep:
