Kiwi thanks for pointing out Path of Exile. Looks like it'll be good.

Grab a quick bite with the Diablo 3 Beta as Jim Maybury answers a few questions and starts out the community chosen class for a playthrough.

Call me a dumbass, call me crazy I dont care, DRM, logged out during single player whatever! I WILL be getting Diablo 3! I have to play this game. :DL

I'm no longer crazy about Diablo 3 even Battlefield 3.

They are good games but I can do without.

Games like Shogun 2 is what pique my interest much more.

Anyway the main reason being so many MMO going free to play. Star Trek Online is going free to play. DC Universe Online is going free to play as well in late October.

They have gorgeous graphics and you can meet real people there have chats and build friendship in the game to help each other out. It's a game as much as it is social(well virtual social).

I can save more money I guess and still able to enjoy high quality games.
If only Star Wars the Old Republic was going Free to play as well. Well I think I just have to buy that game and sub. I'm a big fan of Jedi character. Must role play them. I just hope it gets free to play quick so I don't have to sub all the time.

Dumbass :O:

I'm a huge fan myself of the Diablo Series (always have been the Blizzard junky with the titles Warcraft: Humans and Orcs, Warcraft II Tides of Darkness + Beyond the Dark Portal, Warcraft III Reign of Chaos + Frozen Throne, Diablo, Diablo II, Starcraft + Broodwar, Starcraft II)

I really really hate that Blizzard has merged with Activision...Starcraft II quality game you don't hear me but you can just smell the stench of Activision around it.

Diablo III I was really really looking forward to it, knowing Blizzards writing it's going to be a blast, that they keep the mayor gameplay features intact so people that have been playing the previous game recognizes and not to forget some coop play with friends here on subsim.

however that DRM for me really is a showstopper I have to draw a line somewhere...I tend to agree with your statement ''what the heck I'll buy it anyway'' as I have the urge to do the same thing but I can predict as soon the hype has settled down and the game screws you over due the DRM (no pause, drop out if you idle to long, their server fritzed, your connection fails on you for a bit or you're left without connection due a problem or swapping of ISP) and you can't play some decent singleplayer because of that?

It may sound harsh but I hope Blizzard is going to have a hard time keeping their Diablo servers running...I just hope there'll be massive disconnections, drop out and things that just piss off the community that they'll bombard their forum with rants and complaints and hopefully they'll remove the DRM always online requirement for Singleplayer. (which also means they'll have to introduce like in Diablo 2 a character you can only use in Singleplayer and Other Multiplayer and a Online character you've saved on Bnet)

(btw as for an alternative I've reinstalled Diablo 2 :D)

Yawn o rama.

A few things occur to me.

- smacks of wow around the edges. Graphic/UI, asthetic feel. (not surprising, bit IS made by blizzard.)

- Gameplay is nothing new, and in fact, looks dated now.

- Artitistic motiff smacks of anime. I hate anime.

Nevermind that it's DRM scheme is always online, no offline mode, no singleplayer.

Oh no WoW players = Incoming server crash!

Its tempting but I think I'll just wait till the 15th May or in my case once I order it online here then wait for its delivery it will be around the 18th May before I play it! lol

Edit: where is Feuer Frei these days, knocked down with cancer does anyone know if hes okay?

Arclight 05-15-12 09:48 PM

So er... anyone playing this?

BWAHAHA!

Sorry... sorry. Some feedback would be nice though, pretty big title and all that, but based on a rather old concept. Not that that is an issue, just curious if it still holds people's interest as much as in the past. :hmmm:

kiwi_2005 05-15-12 10:26 PM

So wheres the private servers at bro? :O:. I doubt private servers could happen with D3. But blizzard seem to turn a blind eye to WoW private servers.

Nope haven't got it yet cancelled my preorder last week and getting Kingdoms of Amular first.

TheDarkWraith 05-15-12 10:45 PM

Yeah right, there probably won't be any private servers due to Blizzard's new auction system :nope:

Installing the game:  Took over 4 hours to finally get it to install on Win7 64bit. Boy you have to jump through some hoops and manually configure some things to get it to install :shifty: You'll definitely want to read the D3 forums on this one.

The game itself: :yeah:

The DRM:  Epic fail. Reminds me of SH5 but WORSE! I had just killed the mother whatever in the graveyard and my internet connection went down. Kicked me straight to start screen with no save (says lost connection with server) :o :stare: Now I have to do it all over again :nope:

There is no single player or offline option. You HAVE to be connected at ALL TIMES with their servers to play. They ruined the Diablo series :nope:

EDIT:

Only played the witch doctor so far. It's....well....different. It's cool and fun but I miss the necromancer! My level 74 necro in D2 can whoop some serious arse. There are a lot of things they kept from D1 and D2 so you'll easily recognize them. The new skill tree takes some getting used to. It also reminds me of SH5/SH3 - SH3 had a perfect interface and they screwed it up in SH5 by trying to make something 'new and exciting' - that's what I think of the new skill tree UI.

The manual - oh a classic SH5 one - it's useless, pathetic actually.

EDIT2:

Now I'm really pissed off :stare: I lost all my progress so far because their servers went down - not because I lost my internet connection :nope: I haven't been able to get back 'on' for over 30mins now....classic SH5 all over again :dead: Whereas the Silent Hunter series has a relatively small following the Diablo series has a huge following and a huge fan base. The backlash from all the problems and the new auction system and DRM is going to be historic!

You should praise the DRM, the harder it sucks the sooner it'll be patched out if they grow any common sense.
I really hope there's a massive bombardment of complaints on their forums regarding this no offline mode for SP.

I'll buy it a bit later when things have settled down because when I buy a physical copy here it'll be dubbed in Spanish so going for the English game client that I can download from Bnet but I'm pretty sure it'll be either slow or I'm not able to log in at all due the strain on their servers.

Next to WoW the merging with Activision was the worst thing Blizzard has ever done.

Coming from a person that wasted HOURS on b.net playing Diablo 2 looting and building up characters of every class I can safely say, I have no interest in Diablo 3.

It looks like more of the same with a slight graphic update and DRM that seems to have people screaming for mercy. Correct me if I'm wrong I don't own it and I canceled my preorder as I just completely lost interest in the title.

Ducimus 05-16-12 09:33 AM

You know, my ONLY curiousity with Diablo 3, is what they did with the storyline.
To find that out, all i have to do, is watch the cutscene movies on youtube whenever someone uploads them all.

From everything I have seen and read of Diablo3, this doesn't qualify to be part of the series i know and love.

I think it is mildly ironic that one of the few companies to survive the Video Game Industry Crash of 1983 is doing everything it can to make it happen again. The DRM is insane. When I first heard that Activision-Blizzard was using this all-online-all-the-time crap, I was immediately turned off. I wrote off Diablo III years ago. Hearing all of the gripes proved my instincts correct.

It wouldn't surprise me if all of the issues around Diablo III started the necessary spiral for this repetition of history.

Ducimus 05-16-12 02:45 PM

Heh, yup, Diablo 3 DRM sucks videos are showing up on youtube.

Unfortunately, the only way to inact change, is to vote with your wallet, and most gamers are sheeple when it comes to prerelease hype. Blizzards probably already made a crapload of money in the first few days.

I have not bought this game, nor will I buy this game. I hope there are MANY other people who are saying the same. This always on DRM thing is overboard and doesn't stop pirates.

edit: DRM aside, i woudln't have bought it anyway. The whole artistic motiff is off, doesn't look like the first two games. It looks like WOW got knocked up by Anime and a had a bastard child.
