We are now seriously off the bate the dutch thread-so please do some editing.One of the other moderators is John Channing.I have not seen him on this forum for a while.Tak asked about the Dutch prizes being "taken".This is the language that was used during the time of the sailing navy.May I suggest he looks on Amazon for anything by Captain Marryat.He was a naval officer during the Napoleonic Wars and he was also a friend of Dickens.He wrote some great novels about his own experiences,mixing fact with some comic moments. :up:

"Dit einde op" is the litteral translation. "Deze zijde boven" (litterally "This side above") would be better Dutch.
