Well my fix for the GWX explosion sound was to install PT's sound mod. But there does appear to be a minor problem still with GWX3's Deth charge and torpedo sounds, as it can be seen from this thread that i am not the only one who has noticed the same sound on both types of explosion.
But it is a minor problem when compared to the major advances made by the GWX team in the rest of the game and fixable with a swap over of sound file like Meduza has done or a sound mod like i used. I did expect problems, I have lots of other style games that use mods and on first installing a new mod for most games i find there is always something that i have missed out by not RTFM. It just seems on this occasion that i was the first to either notice it or just the first to post about it and most other people did not think it was a big issue, (Which it isn't really). I just noticed it as i was listening in game for all the new sounds, having already had my socks blown off just from the GFX upgrades, and was in the Convoy attack training in the Naval Academy when a torpedo struck and within a minute later i got DC'D by a Destroyer and noticed the sound was almost identical. I though that i must have a bad install as the 2 sounds must be different as they are 2 entirely different weapons used in completely different ways. So i posted about it. But can i just say again a great thanks to all who posted here, the GWX team along with Philipp Thomsen, as i now have what i consider as a completely new Sim to learn and play, having only played Stock SH3 since it's release. |
