Nice - I never noticed anything was wrong with the flak...??

I say well done to anyone who can mod, lord knows i wish i could do it! to kudos to pen and RB and Kpt Lehmann and ven and everyone else who mods and shares their work!

TarJak 10-20-07 02:43 AM

There was certainly nothing wrong with KL's announcing this fact and the fact that Penny has created her first mod and anyone who thinks there is should stop flapping their gums like a dunny door in a high wind and take a good long hard look at themselves before posting any more tripe like we've seen here.

There are a number of people here who appear to be incapable of understanding what they are reading. If you check the first post by KL carefully you will read that Penny has not only started down the road on her modding career, but has also fixed a realism error that has been in SH3 from day dot.

She has reviewed and fixed the flak gun configurations for every uboat in every year so that when you play the next version of GWX your boat will be historically more accurate than it was when you play SH3 out of the box.

Hats off to Penny and any other modders who are generous enough to share their talents with the great unwashed like me who struggle to understand the basics of playing the game let alone groping around in its innards to see what's wrong with it and then having the nous to fix it!

Hats off to ALL our modders, may they be just starting out(good on you Penny G,hope this is the start of a few more:hmm: ;) )to the more established members of our community.Whatever your contribution,be it big or small,A big      to you ALL.

I kind of see Racerboy's point in demanding more recognition for all modders, and I didn't read in his post any intention of putting Penelope_Grey down. He was simply asking to recognize the hard work of ALL modders.

Telling someone to 'shut up' is bad form, any way you slice it.

I think all modders should get their own threads of recognition. That would include of course Penelope_Grey.

Penelope_Grey 10-20-07 04:42 AM

I'd be a bare faced liar if I said I wasn't enjoying getting to ham it up a bit. So there... I'll be honest, Im enjoying.

JCwolf, thanks very much sir. I'm hoping that with a bit of time, I may be able to go on and do further things. I'm not genius by any stretch, but it was quite a good feeling to see that I had done the work and that it was right (in the end... took a few attempts), and that what I did will be in 1.04 so it was all very cool for me... because well... blondes are dumb right?:rotfl:

Thanks also to my teammates past and present, and AVGWarhawk, and Mush Martin:up: and sailor Steve... I think! LOL

-----------------------

To the critics in this thread:

Thankyou. You've really given me incentive now to go on and learn more and do more. Even if only to put noses out of joint. But I am genuinely grateful, negative encouragement also works on me... because I am a stubborn willful cow when I want to be... and this is one time I want to be.

This is the last thing I have to say about this 'announcement'.
If this 'announcement' would've been made in their GWX thread (which would've been more appropriate) it would have been perfectly acceptable. But to create a new thread for special recognition for one person is not acceptable in my world and others.
Take OneLifeCrisis for example. New guy to the forum, reworks some TGAs to give us new wave textures. Outstanding job on his part. Did a new thread get made for special recognition for him? No. Some praise was given in my thread and some on the thread he started for his mod. Did he deserve recognition? Yes. Does Penelope G. deserve recognition? Yes. But not in the way it was done.
I don't care who people are on this forum, no one is more important than anyone else. No one is better than anybody else either. We are all equal. :yep:

JCWolf 10-20-07 09:09 AM

Sorry , but your rong mate,

Neal is the most important person in this
forum....:yep:

And I guess everyone is free to post a thread, be it related
to shearing someone's Achievements, be it for some other purpose
SHIII related and Modding related!

Hell, I certanly think that more of this should be done in fact!

True!

Seems's like everyone agrees that Pen deserves the praise, they just can't agree whether it should have been done here or on the GWX thread. I personally don't care where it's done. As long as modders, especially new ones, get the credit and feedback they deserve. So lets all just say grats to Pen and enjoy basking in the radiant glow of her newfound modding skills

@ Racerboy - I can see your point of view (not saying i agree) and yes perhaps this could have gone into one of the existing GWX threads or in the general SH3 forum.
That said, this is just one fairly harmless thread and whats done is done.
Had I been in your shoes I would have simply ignored it - as you well know, each time you post in this thread, you are bumping it back up to the top.

Now -Im not out to 'get you' here but please remember that not so long ago you your self were guilty of virtually hijacking the SH3 mod forum with a whopping 12 seperate threads for different versions of your exaust smoke mod (which was a little exessive) I know you ammended it in the end and im sure I could dig up bad examples of conduct for everyone including myself. Im just pointing out that we all have our faults and occasionally rub each others fur the wrong way sometimes.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'll bet that's what this thread is really about, since girls are a rarity around sims (I don't mean "The Sims")

In 2002, The Sims became the top-selling PC game in history, displacing the game Myst. Critics praised it with positive reviews. It has been a success in many ways—attracting casual gamers and female gamers (which account for 50% of sales)—unusual in a market traditionally dominated by young males.

Because we (or most of us) are always horny :D ...... (that was a joke)

Now seriosly, i want to say good luck to Penelope_Grey, in her future projects

Congratulations Penny. You've took your first steps.

Do yourself a big favour girl - keep taking them. The biggest castle starts with a single brick. You've laid a row of bricks with your 1.04 fix there. Keep it rolling. You can do it, if you understood all that gobble de gook without any real training or skill then I dare say with a bit of tuition there should be nothing to stop you

Also, the few individuals that chose to make an example here in this thread or to play down the thread, let me just say, thanks for coming, seriously! - all castles in the middle ages usually had court jesters for entertainment for the Kings and Queens.:rotfl:

Exactly, Penny. If you think for one moment that your involvement in GWX is as "resident female wall-flower" you are quite mistaken. The fact that you happen to be female is incidental.

As for the whingers... its just another day at the office. Let'em choke on their sour grapes.:|\\
