My vote goes to the Romanian team that brought us these subsims in the first place for which there wouldn't be a need for modders. The cause and effect, if you will.

Deciding who is the best modder is like deciding who of the Trinity is the best :hmm: (not to put too lofty a point on it) You're all great.

Lt. Staumeier 07-30-07 02:37 PM

Having loads of fun with Trigger Maru, although my vote goes to LeoVampire actually for his awesome graphic mod.

AVGWarhawk 07-30-07 02:58 PM

I would have to say my opinion is a bit biased as I have not tried the larger mods like TM or RFB. I'm ok with vanilla version at the moment. With that said, I do have some texture mods and OAKGROOVES texture mod has really brought this together from me. Simply outstanding work!

Weather-guesser 07-30-07 03:31 PM

Best MOD

It would be hard for me to vote for one of the "Super MODS" only because the work of several MODS make up the great work as a whole.
So for a single MOD that has really added to the WOW factor, I have to vote for
leovampire for the Living Breathing Ocean MOD.

jimimadrid

Not that I'm even close to being versed with the all the mods out there but - the green pressed buttons just did it for me. So much frustration without it.... the SH4 Toolbar "Lamp" mod is my vote.

RickC Sniper 07-30-07 04:45 PM

Oakgroove and Captain Cox have created mods I couldn't do without, but saluts to all here who have worked so hard on improving this game.

leovampire 07-30-07 06:23 PM

Okay seeing choices have to be made

So that anyone can win in the first place here is mine.

CaptainCox: for dedication to excelence and most willing to accomidate anyone's
request for new variations to his mod's and or add on's to them. And for willingness
to help anyone with their MOD problems that he is really good at.

Ducimus: for combining mod's and and making them all work together and
then making a whole new way to play the game's missions and
not giving in to people's complaints and problems but instead
working with it to make it better for all. And stop being so modest.
Berry was also in the running for this with me due to his dedication
to realizm and research for that because he took the SIMULATOR name
to heart for the dedicated die hard sim people out there.

JScones: For the creation of a utility that almost everyone uses and or
should use to preserve the original game files and lets us safly
test our MOD's without having to accuire new files to replace
what we screwed up big time! JSGME is the program of course

Darkship: Granted patch 1.3 made his stop watches all usless but do any of us have pictures posted that don't show his stop watches in one way or another before patch 1.3? I may be biased because he did make a special watch for me and when he saw in a pic I posted it didn't look right he revised it and sent me a new one that looked better and did his best to help me make the needles sit perfectly in the watch. I also want Jimimadrid because I use his Shinny Boarders controls and of course we all use green lamps.

God I am sorry to all the great MODER's out there but we have to pick just 4 and I don't know what to do without hurting someone else's feelings!? And I don't want people to stop doing the great work they have done and might be working on now that we don't know about.

I skimmed the replys...

Did any one Mention Tater ?

Jace11 07-30-07 07:40 PM

yup, I did twice :)

Ducimus 07-30-07 07:43 PM

I really hate it when neal makes a contest like this. Theres so many names, not mentioning them all, it feels like your belitteling their work. I change my vote. Since im the resident jackass (for not mentioning tater), everyone other then myself deserves a T shirt.

GT182 07-30-07 07:52 PM

Sorry Neal but I too can't pick "just" one. There are too many modders that have done an exceptional job on mods. And some have worked with other modders to make a specific mod for SH4.

So in all fairness I'd have to choose..... all the modders that have worked on SH4. They all deserve a  . Without each and everyone of them we'd all be crying in our milk. :yep:

corleonedk 07-30-07 08:07 PM

Yaa its to hard to pick one, they should just send each one a tshirt.

Onkel Neal 07-30-07 09:14 PM

Great! Keep it coming, and list your t-shirt size :yep:

If there isn't a catagory for mod TOOLS, there needs to be.

JScones for JSGME, none of this is thinkable without him.

Mcoca's automated campaign editor. I have a feeling you haven't even begun to see what this tool will do.

Timetraveller's minitweaker. Again, where would anyone be without it.

Nvdrifter and all the others who made tweak files. My head spins thinking about it.

It hasn't produced any mods yet, but I have my eye on skwasjer's S3D as being the best thing since sliced bread.

As for mod "product?" Way too hard to pick one. Captain Cox, Leovampire, Oakgroove, Beery, Ducimus, LukeFF, Kosh, Werner Sobe, Redwine, Jace11---too many to pick that really know their stuff.

<edit> I bolded the 10 that are most prolific authors, or did the biggest mods or tools. Honestly the last few could be interchangable with several people (listed above or not).

Well I have given this a lot of thought and here is that thought. :know:

There is a ONE that has made this game better by ALL accounts. Most every modder here has recommended his "mod" to the community. I am referring to the creator of JSGME, JScones I think it is. How would/could we put all of these wonderful mods into the game without JSGME.

Yes, I know one can manually install, but would you really want to do that? My one vote goes to JSGME. :arrgh!:

My vote for the T-Shirt that goes to a non-modding person goes to you my friend for this great answer.

aanker 07-31-07 12:11 PM

This isn't fair! Can't pick one, I pick "all of the above". They can make more T-shirts.

TDK1044 07-31-07 12:31 PM

The first one to mod the T shirt gets my vote. The 'T Shirt Maru living breathing armpit' mod.

I wonder...would this conflict with the Brawny Sailor Big B.O. Stained t-shirt mod...v1.0?

Yes. The texture of the sweat would be an issue. Ducimus is working on a fix for this....involving Captain Cox' deodorant mod!
