As I stated in my introduction, I have currently reinstalled my SH4 (since DW does not work with windows 8.1). I'm glad I did because I have come to love this game once more and I forgot what great fun it is. Definitely sticking with SH4 from now on.

I have finally acheived a stable install of v1.4 of the game but im currently commanding u123 on sh3. I plan to start a serious career on sh4 when im dead or the war ends (probably the former). Its march '44 in my current career so not long now before im playing for the allies either way. Im looking forward to giving it a proper run for the first time. Its graphics and sound effects are awesome and i like the lifeboat touch when you sink a ship. I cannot comment any further as i havent played it long enough to really experience it. I was wondering if there was any good grammophone tracks to download for it. I especially like the thought of some haiwian music like in sponge bob lol. It would definitely suit it.

Still playing even today.
RFB v2 RSRD RFB v575.7z Merchant Skinpack v2 RFB Webster's Missing Voices "Full-Switch" realism settings, Very Hard initial setting. Currently on my first patrol in the Gato after transferring from the Pickerel. My current campaign is synced so that, except for the year (obviously, lol), the game date is also the real-world's date. The game year so far is 1942. Whenever I load into a campaign I fast-forward it to the current time in my time zone (Pacific -8). ...Long periods, sometimes literally several weeks, where nothing happens. :shifty: ...Those trans-pacific cruises take an awful long time. I love it! |
I am.
I am a newish player. Had it up and running with TMO on my old laptop which then died. Would like to run TMO on this one with Windows 8 but I am not sure of the install process on Windows 8. Love the game though and glad others are enthusiast as well!
And, oh yes, hello. |

I'm still playing SH4 but not as much when I first got it. I'm splitting my playing time between a ton of games right now. I haven't even checked my mod set up lately.

I am finding TMOwtw 2.50 better than RFB that I was previously using.
On a difficulty level I find both about the same I also removed RSRDC as well to test out what TMO is all about. As I expected RSRDC suppresses a lot of the capabilities of both RFB and TMO. These two mods are complete packages in their own right. Both have excellent and informative documentation that covers all you need to know. At present it is too early to say whether RSRDC will be needed again in the future. TMO has its own interesting campaign structure and also the crew abilities were being suppressed by RSRDC. The Crew abilities and points rating may not be to every ones taste but personally I like it. I found moving the crew in RFB became an irritation after a while. It would not have been so bad if they were all moved to one compartment but you have to use 3. RFB has a poor map unless you add other mods where as TMO you do not need to. The other thing I am not sure on is whether to add back in Webster's Better Air Patrols. For the moment the jury is out on that one as it was with RFB. If you have never thought about the TMO light version then it is worth giving it a try as I can assure you, you will be pleasantly surprised with the interfaces graphics, shortcuts and icons. These are all the mods I am using as with some of these larger interface mods you often find that less is more. what is TMOwtw 2.50?
|
Hi avers
You were enquiring about. "This is not a new MOD, but rather a simplified version of Trigger Maru Overhauled 2.5 It is meant for the younger or casual player and was intended as a middle step between the stock game and TMO 2.5. It is only intended for use with Silent Hunter IV patched to 1.5 or the Gold edition. As many as possible of the features of TMO have been left in place, the improved graphics, the command structure and all of the fun changes made by TMO over the stock game. Here are some of the ways it differs from TMO: The boxes, tails and ship outlines on the navigation map are like stock. The Nomograph is gone. The Next/Previous Unit keys, < > are enabled. The enemy sensors are toned down a bit. Watch it, they are still very dangerous. The Thermal Layer is very strong. If you are under the layer you can run right under an escort at 1/3 ahead on Silent Running and they may detect something, but they will not be able to locate you well enough to attack. The Thermal Layer is your best friend. The Gramophone icon has been replaced by a ship draft chart. The buttons to work the Gramophone are on the bottom right corner of the chart. The clock is a gold 1939 Hamilton, because I like it. The deck gun loads in 4 seconds. The torpedoes are very reliable during the early war years and get even better after mid 1943. If you want to change back to the poorly performing torpedoes that were in use during the early war years, you can enable the Historic Torpedoes MOD in the Support Folder/Optonal MODs. The Sub underwater marker is back, sort of. It has been replaced by the wTw logo. There are MODs to remove the marker or change it back to stock in the Support Folder/Optional MODs The Captains desk photo is the iconic Betty Grable pin-up pic, again becuase I like it." Max Optics is included as an add-on and does not need a separate binocular add-on as it is already included. if anyone is interested here is the download link. is RSRDC campadible with TMO wtw?
|
OK lets go a stage further. I consider myself a sort of expert single play submariner and am running RSRDC etc.
What do you think it is the best game play batch of mods for a playing point of view, visually, tactically, and accuracy, forget for now - difficulty. I've seen a few RFB mentions but cannot find the download, maybe I passed it, there are so many. Is RFB+ better than RSRDC  or  |
Hi avers
Yes totally. You use RSRDC_TMO_v502 And the patch RSRDC_V5xx _Patch 1 Peter |
Hi Red Devil
GFO RFB TMO TMOwTw are all user interface mods. RSRDC is a Campaign mod. You use RSRDC with your choice of interface and then you have a separate patch for RSRDC to work with it. Peter |
