Maybe they are talking about the graphics in the gladiator game... :hmmm:

Some more comparison with flight simulator of the same generation...

Please take a look at Small barge and Fishing wessel...

I would say (as totally peripheral elements of game) they are at least at SH4 graphic level... so logical question is what is expected from U-boat sim of the same generation ?

:know:

Check out ROF (rise of flight) Also includes dynamic lighting and is NOT a birthchild of a major developement team with loads of financial backing.

What's RoF like?

Must say I don't like the idea of having to guy extra aircraft through DLC.

One of the greatest games ever done, IMO, was the original Red Baron, even though terribly basic compared with today's tech/graphics. So RoF interests me. Is it largely online MP, or is there a decent SP (I don't like online, generally, as there are so many cheats/knbjockeys).

p.s. hope for your sake you're not the German in that pic...

Yes BoB:SoW looks amazing.

Any game still being developed 2 years after the initial release date had better look good.

@Steeltrap: It is the best WWI flight sim on the market, probably the best fixed wing flight model on the market. It still has issues which can be researched easy enough. Yeah additional planes have to be purchased for just under $8 US each. This has caused alot of tears. People pay up to $100 for FSX add-on planes and I recall paying $15 US each for add-on planes for SWOTL back in the early 90's. It is nothing new, just uncommon. The 4 planes that come with the game are 4 of the best of the war, you will never have to buy a plane to be competitive online.

As for the DRM.. yeah.. I see alot of prople who spend alot of time online complaining that they can't play it because they have no internet...

Try the demo, weigh the pros and cons.. that doesn't cost you anything. Most people who say it sucks are against the DRM and business model and have never tried it anyways lol.

It may not be for you, but don't pass on it because of bad advice.

Yeah, I'm on the ROF forums aswell same username.
pet peeve is the pay for planes after the sim already cost me £X, but I really wanted some of the allied ones (dolphin and se5) so caved in and bought them. ROF is lacking the IL2 multiplayer but if your machine can hack it the single player is a beautiful experience. Oh, and the devs are still supporting this title adding/updating/patching. On 1.08 I think atm. 1.09 is already announced and in the works.

Thanks for the info. Is the SP any good? I tend not to play things online.

I'm not playing anything right now as my rig died and I'm having supply problems with my new spec machine (specifically, can't get 2 x ATI 5850 cards).

Highbury 11-16-09 12:03 AM

I'll PM you, it's waaay off topic for the SHV forum lol
