The bombers were pulling a tight turn over me, which by itself tells you all you need to know about bomber AI in this game.. so they crossed paths.
Of course I went on my merry way to finish that sensational but controversial harbor mission.. :ping: |
Also in real life the submariners misidentified more ships than they identified. We have every ship in the ocean in our recognition manual and all ships are of a few types. The real ocean was filled with one of a kind ships and ships disguised as other larger ships. They would look in the recognition manual for half an hour, throw their hands up and go in anyway, knowing their stadimeter was useless. Ever wonder how they could miss so many shots?
Life is easy for us.......so far. The Real Fleet Boat guys are working on making our lives a living hell with the Real Recognition Manual, which may or may not be released as a separate mod. After all, it has to agree with the ships encountered.....or does it? After all its function is to be next to useless!!!:rotfl: If you look into Fluckey's harbor raids, they sure didn't play out like the ones in the game. His were downright dangerous and that is why he got the medals for doing them. The only reason they weren't suicidal is that he was protected by the audacity of doing something no sane man would do. But Fluckey was very sane, weighing and mitigating the odds on every "foolhardy" mission he undertook. He was proudest of the medal no member of his crew ever received: the purple heart. Wow, this site looks awesome in Firefox 3 running in Ubuntu Hardy Heron with the Mac4Lin theme. Whew! http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...Screenshot.jpg |

Unfortunately, it seems that Ubi is so enamored with their shoot-em-ups that they aren't spending a lot of time thinking about the Silent Hunter franchise other than putting SH3 on sale for $4.95. Talk about cheapening your product! SH3 deserved to be updated to a co-equal, costarring role with SH4, making Silent Hunter a two-headed profit monster. They could do SO many things the suck money out of my wallet more efficiently!:rotfl: Keep us posted on your P2P WWII game. Or would you call it PVP? or PVPVPVPVP? Maybe not. How about P4VP4? Or P4VAI? Beats me! Sounds really good though. |
Join the Teamspeak server and ask maxxim (Cpt-maxim) about those games. Not going to put it all in writing in any forums for now.
I have actually spoken with Timetraveller (MOD tool maker) in the past, and helped to mod a different game, and Im up on a few of those topics because of that, I have a few skills in modding, graphics etc.. degree in programming.. Here in SUBSIM, I have downloaded MODs earlier this year for SH4 and played with JGSME and learning how useful it is.. I have not "JUST" recently decided to use existing mods for SH4, I have actually played with them for some time in the first part of this year. Bought SH4 in Feb 2008. But also (a few months ago) did full reinstalls of windowsXP and currently beginning from scratch installs of SH4 because of that, which Im taking advantage of exploring the vanilla version first. The past few days Ive read the full 45 page thread history of the NSM and some 35 pages (or more) of RFB mods and how they work. This would make most heads spin, and a good idea would be to write a better synopsis for the future, so people understand the "how" and "why" each tweak was tweaked up or down.. Which brings me to another view, that the importance of getting it "just right" is based on the number of people judging it against "what they want" and "what is historically {provable} or {accurate}".. now that is a loaded statement. Sometimes we settle for what is "do-able" because we cant go any further, and with that barrier being reached, we make ourselves happy with what is, until new tools make that barrier go away. However, currently, Im getting to the point where I will want to test the full RFB mod soon. And I'm sure I will experience the game that could have been, as you all made it be. Im all for that too.. just in my own time. So, Im not saying dont mod, just going at my own speed for a full variety of time spent in the game to fully appreciate it in all its differences.. fortunately I have the major amount of time needed to do more than average. |
