Ouch. We need that over here for a bit too. The prices i mean. That would get the rest of the SUV's that are used for daily commutes off the road! You might have to pay a bit more for product, but thats all the name of the game.

Ah, but the normal increase in price here is about 9 cents/gallon for each "upgrade."

Foghladh_mhara 03-23-07 09:51 PM

Well the Green party are proposing a 20% hike over the next few years to encourage less usage as part of their election manifesto. Weird though I dont see that as being a very high price. Guess I'm immune to it now

(whispering sweet as candy through a bush of flowers): Do you know how many "aliens" are fighting in the US armed forces to earn themselves US state citizenship by that? Hint: a US journalist some time ago on German TV described the situation in the non-officer ranks as "America's mercenary army".... It's a mean way to get citizenship in the US. And the US makes maximum use of this bad habit. Vietnam had more aliens in the US army then WWII. Iraq has more aliens in the US army than Vietnam. Compare: WWII had more WASP-Americans in the army than Vietnam. Vietnam had more WASP-Americans in the army than Iraq.

Get your facts straight there dude!....Aliens and ILLEGAL...you know ILLEGAL.....same as "NOT LEGAL".....do Not dare compare Alien to ILLEGAL Alien...as in jumping the fence...non-tax paying...non draft registering....

When a person in the United States has a fence posted KEEP OUT..then when a person enters without permission he is violating tha LAW of our country...

America is a great melting pot of millions of people from all over the world who entered this country lawfully and paid whatever due they had too...to put ILLEGAL Aliens in the same category is a spit in the face of the law and takes a big fat dump on it....

Save you Bush Bashing BS Skybird....you call it a bad habit...no one is forcing them so please sit back down please you are hurting my ears with that non-sense.

Bring our troops home from Iraq & reconquer Mexico. They have gas, they're a lot closer & half of them would move to the US anyway. Let them trade their corruption with our corruption. All that & Spanish is easier to learn than Arabic. I know we can do it because my ancestor, Gen. Winfield Scott, already did it once. Now that we've settled that pesky slavery question, it should be a cakewalk. We'll be greeted as liberators & given candy & flowers.

There's a reason we didn't want to keep that place. Oh, and personally I thought Arabic was way easier than Spanish.

2 things, 1) even if illegal immigrants are as well off as you say, and even if all 11 million of them drive, that is just a perverbial drop in the ocean compared to the rest of the US population. So I personally don't see that as making a rather big difference. But that is just my view of it as a 3rd party. It will help slightly certainly, but solve the problem it will not.

2) As I say, you love your military and I think you puff out your chest at that thought too. But....... there are other ways to show dedication to the country you are in, not just saying "gimme a gun at let me fight for you" What about the immigrant that is not afraid of hard honest work? Surely they must count.

See thinking about this logically, you go back a couple of hundred years and well, you did the exact same thing to the native Americans didn't you? (Granted they didn't have laws like we know it) It wasn't your land, your country, but when you moved westward you took it from them, with force if need be was that paying the due? So its kind of an irony when modern day Americans complain about illegal immigration. Considering only a few hundred years back you did the exact same thing and took a dump on a culture that was already established, herded them up and stuck them on reservations out of the way and gave them casino rights. They had to make do. Illegal immigrants enter any way they can and take what they want, you might think this sounds anti-American but I just can't help but see the similarities.

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the borders . When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq . Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.
I like this idea. Then when america would boast on how they won some future war, I would just say: Nope, wasnt you, it was the mexicans. :rotfl:

Just injecting a bit of history here: It was actually the French and the Brit fur trappers who introduced the concept of scalping when they came to the americas.

No. The article doesn't state that. Read carefully.
