Good explanations.
I never considered the fact that the Yorktown was sunk at Midway. Why go thru all that trouble for modding in a ship for just 7 months. Would it be possible to put a non-flying Wildcat on the decks of the carriers?? I didn't notice any of those planes taking off or landing. I think they're just there for eye candy. And I guess, in the big picture, that's all I'm talking about, so it's not really that big a deal. I did install FOTRS last night and started my first patrol and I do have a few observations I would like to make. I really like the sea environment characteristics and how the sub handles in the water. It appears to bob up and down more, and the propellers aren't out of the water for an extended about out time like in the stock version of the game. It's also nice not to be going underwater while on the bridge. I've been in some pretty rough seas and although the sub deck might become awash, I have yet to go totally under water. I also like the bigger and better defined compass, as it allows me make a more detailed setting the first time. And the added explosions and effects are a nice addition as well. On my first patrol I was sent to the Marshall's. To my surprise as soon as I got to the area I received a completed notificaton from Pearl, and icon on the map turned gray, which was nice. I proceeeded to patrol the area and not finding any shipping I decided to check out the port on Kolonia Is. It was more or less in my patrol area. To my delight there were no patroling destroyers, but one docked along with 2 merchants. It was dark so I was able to sneak up to within 2,000 yds and get my first couple of ships on the patrol. But I noticed that the water in the harbor was moving very fast, like it was being sucked out of the harbor. I don't know if that's something you can adjust or not, but you might want to take a look at it. The following is just some personal opinions. Is there a way to remove the compass overlay from around the sub on the map screen, and the columns of minutes, nms and kts from the right of the map?? I assume all that is there for manual targeting, which I for one do not do. In the attack screen I can see a purpose, but not on the navigation map. It would be nice to have that feature toggled on/off depending on whether or not manual targeting was selected in the options menu. And it would be nice if the sub could be seen (for directional purposes) from less magnifications. Just a circle on the map makes me feel like I'm piloting just that, a circle. Even a small speck showing me the direction I'm going in helps. I noticed that the Y key did nothing when I pressed it. It's supposed to take you to the management screen (I know F7 does the same thing) according to the F1 Help screen. I'm surprised that a keyboard mapping option wasn't included in the options menu. I really got used to the stock version of mappings. Is there a mapping tool that is easy to use, or must someone know what all those numbers and characters mean in the cfg file to be able to program the mappings to your liking?? The one thing I didn't like in the stock version of the game and I guess there's nothing that can be done with it is the amount of allied contact reports near friendly ports, especially your home port. When I'm starting a patrol, I want to jump into tc and get to where I'm going, but it seems I can't get past 32x or 64x tc before I get bumped out of tc. Do I really need to know about every ship and plane?? The one thing I did notice in PH was that merchant harbor traffic didn't know I was there and almost ran into me. Now if that's the reasoning for all the contact reports, I can understand it, but I think there's got to be a better way. But I just wanted to give an updated report on this mod. I hope it's helpful. It's the only one I'm using at the moment. Other than my own personal choices, this is looking great so far. Nice work! :salute: |
Massive Merchant Ship Spawn at Gobo
Mission: Photo-Recon Osaka
Date: October, 31, 1942 Sub Type: Gato As I approached Kii Suido, approximately 30nm SSW of Gobo I experienced a massive lag spike. As I investigated I found that 50+ Merchant Ships all spawned at the same point at the Gobo Docks. I turned West to avoid this LAG. The German Merchant ships left Gobo port heading SSW. After 2 days(game time lag) I began moving north towards Osaka. As I near the choke point SE of Sumoto, the game CTD every time, September, 2, 1942. My Current MOD list in order: Code:

It's clearly a tanker group, I'd look in the campaign file for that time period. |
IJN Destroyers Above the water
Hello, Enjoying Your Mod ..
Theres a little problem . I have been playing in the war patrols mode , The Phillipines to be exact . The japanese Destroyers are seemingly floatin on top of the water . looking like little rubber duckies bobbing back and forth from side to side . The props are exposed and they are harder to kills , Is this a CFG Problem? I am certain that there is a little adjustment that will right the destroyers so the will travel on the waterline , perhaps if you would shed a little light as to what path , I can Adjust it so the ship is sitting correctly on the draft of the waterline , Enjoying your MOD Thanks Matty |
My applogies
My typing perfomance is below par .. I wrote your name as Matty, You go by maddy, My appollogies i suppose going threw the thread , Does the bug fix correct the problem on on my previous post ? I make this question in the TMO interiors posts...I try the Vickers interiors in FOTRS, they work fine (no CTDs), but the radio room and captain cabin are without lights...Some solution?
Many thanks and regards! :yeah: Fitzcarraldo :salute: |
