Cool, gimme a few weeks to get it up to scratch and ill PM you a link to the 3ds & DDs files. i been meaning to finnished it off for ages and its about 75% there.... :)
Though you may want to add the finer details to the bridge your self.... but I really need to skin the conning tower and add the props, stern dive planes and cabling.
No doubt SHIV has a controller for the US fleet boats so you can animate the retractable bow dive planes

Hell I Might try and get it in to SHV also - but probably just as an AI unit.
(By the way, im only allowed to say it better than the current model you use as i made that too. Lamo.....)

yatta !!! thanks !

I added some on your first mesh but this one looks, well, perfect !

but I really need to skin the conning tower and add the props, stern dive planes and cabling.
ok

No doubt SHIV has a controller for the US fleet boats so you can animate the retractable bow dive planes

I have already done it for our Jyunsen B which also had retractable planes so I know how to do that :D

this one is gonna be so much better ! the first mesh's tub was too deep for SHIV's dummies

You also need to separate the turret from the tower mesh so we can add it to a new dedicated DG, like we do for the IJN and Narwhal (well like Peabody built for me ;) )

Hell I Might try and get it in to SHV also - but probably just as an AI unit.

Ask Peabody as he already made an AI one for our IJN campaign .

(By the way, im only allowed to say it better than the current model you use as i made that too. Lamo.....)

I liked the first model a lot !:salute: but prefer the new one:yep:

keep up the good work and thanks for allowing me to use it in my mod.

JU_88

can you make two models ? one with the external tubes aft of the tower (8 +3) like this one and one with the forward external tubes (10 + 1) under the tower as seen in the picture here above.

I might then make the mod to have :

Class T model 1
Class T model 2

submarines available

I thought about it but its a lot of work, the T class group one had the fore tubes amid ships, no stern tube and a totally different bow design to boot, they remodeled it for the group 2 and 3 boats because of poor performace caused by the bow design. Plus the group one also had different conning tower.
The first model I have made is a group 3 boat, it took months just to get it where it is, and it would take months to make a group one boat - the bow is very tricky to model.
I couuld make a group 3 with 2 fore tube amid ships but then it is a fictional sub, not a historical one.

http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/4364/tmod1.jpg

So the bow design was different on the group one boats (6+2+2 tubes, later one added to the stern)

I'm re-reading the Class T boat from which the above picture was taken.

A group 3 boat with 6+2 fore and 3 stern tubes will do then ;)

also from what I read they only had external torpedo tube doors on a few of them

do you have intel or a model for the DG ? tired of using a US one... I just read they used a maark XII gun.

commanders in the far east asked for more armor on it, eventually having a full turret covering the gun.

British mark VIII and VIII and US mk14 torpex torpedo mod

British mark VIII and VIII and US mk14 torpex torpedo mod

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8697/64139938.jpg

There were some common ids on different nodes

fixed that,

fixed the zon file too (all the calculations are in an excell file with the mod, they are based on the stock hit points of the mk 14 used as baseline)

mk VIII TNT
min 96,1
max 144,2
AP 80,1
max turn angle = 35

mk VIII TorPex
min 225
max 337,5
Ap 187,5
max turn angle = 35

mk 14 US torpex
min 180
max 270
AP 150
max turn angle = 135

This mod gives you both british torpedoes mark VIII TNT and mark VIII** Torpex and the US mk14 II torpex torpedoes that was missing from the game, while retaining the original mk14 too, it'll be available mid-1942.

I always thought they folded away like the planes on the US boats.

so like US ones .?

you also need to make the rudder, bow planes (2 separate) and stern planes separate entities, like the tower and the gun turret as they are animated separately. Sorry if I sound bossy :salute:

From what I read in the T CLass book, there were no outer doors (:D) although they briefly experimented with those based on an unsubstanciated account of a Portuguese sub captain saying they gained 1.5 knots in speed with the outer doors installed.

In Devonshire Dock with snort fitted (snort mast allowed air to be taken into submarine so it could use diesel engines even when submerged); shows details of snort induction and mast. She was the first British submarine to be fitted with this.

Yes all animated parts must be seperate objects (.obj) I am aware of this.
As for the tube doors.
Only the group 1 T class had external tube doors, they were removed for the redesigned bows of groups 2 and 3.

Thats another problem moddling all the types.
Groups 2 and 3 were very similar in appearance, group two has a 'dip' on the forward decking like group 1 and most had the 'enclosed cab' type conning tower.

But between group 1 and 3, only the main hull was the same in apperance, the bow, deck, conning tower and tube arrangement were all completely different.
Also I have seen no less than 4 different conning tower types on various T class boats.

Looking at google images, it seems that some people mistake the Post war A class for the T class http://home.cogeco.ca/~gchalcraft/sm...s/DOLPHIN4.jpg :)
(The center sub is an A class)
