And graphic is not important.
Nobody will play perfectly graphical SH5 if this game is one big bug.

LoL, I was in Disney World this week. I think we also need for our monitors such water emitter fans like the ones in the front seats of the Disney's 3D cinemas.:D

Das Boot was in fact acurate

OH my god. Will the Das Boot hating one here please look at what you just said.

That splash effect they did in Das Boot was VERY realistic.

Have you ever been on a speed boat on a light chop going at full speed? The water splashes all over the place from the bow and right in the wind screen.

If you go full speed in more than a light chop, you WILL get drenched.

Now, the scene in Das Boot was when they were in a huge storm, at sea, going at probably 6kts, against a sea possibly going twice that rate in the opposite direction, in a large boat, low in the water. All of these combined would result in a very wet ride. It was standard practice that when in such conditions that the bridge hatch remain closed. (which was different than running on other sea states, where the hatch was opened, both for communications, and engine air)

Read how riding a storm out on a U-boat in the Atlantic was like from other sources than Das Boot. Heck read about other country's boats in the Atlantic, such as One of Our Submarines (about the British sub, Storm), or Iron coffins, The occupants in the bridge did indeed get hit in the face by walls of water, the tower had a wave deflector place around it to redirect the water straight up. This is shown to great effect in Das Boot. Look at the difference in wave deflectors on early towers to later towers. This was to address this wave problem.

Though not completely accurate, Das Boot is true to the book aside from details from the body of the novel, and the encounter with the neutral liner near the end of the book, as well as the mined U-boat while they enter La Rochelle. These would have been nice scenes to include, but they were already making a very long project.

I don't think I am the only one here that thinks Das Boot is THE best submarine movie ever made. Yes the depth charge attack is pretty wild, but I have read Run silent run deep, and this was written by an actual sub commander, and his description is not that far from what is depicted in the film as far the jolts and shakes the boat encounters when depth charge goes off. In a depth charge attack test where they took an actual hull WITH A CREW ON BOARD and set charges off next to it, the description was quite like what is shown in Das Boot. (Source, US submarines through 1945, Friedman). The only inaccuracy in the film being the screaming crew. Though I actually highly doubt that the crews were stoic when explosives were going off outside a relatively thin hull. How do you react to an earthquake? Well multiply that several times.

Aside from this questionable scene in the movie, most other things are pretty darned accurate, even the botched night torpedo attack. Remember they thought they were dealing with a convoy that was unescorted, an attack like that would most likely be done, on the surface, in accordance with the U-boat commander's hand book (a copy of which I own).

I don't think I am the only one here that thinks Das Boot is THE best submarine movie ever made. I for one would like a little more thought put into a post ripping into it.

Consider that this water is still a million times better than the vanilla SHIV water. Even if they manage to do it wrong, it's just a matter of time until the community pefects the thing. Judging by their tendency, we cannot expect anything near what modders will be able to do. Just think of the whole thing as a clean slate that will be chiseled and polished by the community. Like before...

Whilst I agree that the looks of the sea are important. I feel it would be better to improve the nature of the sub physics in relation to the sea, SH3 seemed to model this better than SH4 which felt like a much more "on rails" experience.

Adding other effects like drift, due to wind, the effects of current, buoyage and real world soundings would be a massive improvement to the realism and atmosphere of the game even the one man created Virtual sailor has this.
