how to do a new install
 
hi.

I know how to use multish4 pretty well as I have 4 differnet installs going TMO+RSRD, RFB, Op Monsun and a stock one. yet but I must uninstall UBM from one of those installs in order to be able to play FOTRS.

or put another way: How do I make a clean install of SH4 without first removing my games.... if I insert the SH4 DVD disk it tells me the game is already patched to 1.5 and wont allow a new clear install.

help!!!!!!!!!!!

cgjimeneza, sorry to say that you have no chance to install the mod without reinstalling SH4. :cry::cry:

This is the negative point of the operation, the positive point is deinstalling your stock version of SH4 has no implications on your modded installations.

Deinstall Stock 1.5, install 1.0 and update to 1.4. Make a copy of clean 1.4 to your modfolder (if you like keep this clean 1.4 and take a second copy for the FOTRS Mod) and when ready update the stock game to 1.5. :know:

If you do this you go exactly the way i did 2 month ago. There is only a stock installation in my C:\Programs\... All my Mod copies are in my C:\Games folder. And after having watched a hard working HD you will be like me the proud owner of 45 GIGABYTE Silent Hunter 4 in 2 clean installs and 7 Mod folders each round about of 5 GB. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I actually have the following installs:

a stock base 1.5 for emergency replacements
one for playing PTC VIII
one for TMO + RSRD
one for Op Monsun
one to try individual units

I know perfectly how it feels to have one HD just for SH4

Good mod still need work.
 
Love the mod but there is still places where it is german. Like the sections of the ship and some of the tools on the bars. Thanks for the mod and keep up the good work.

F1,Number pad delete,hides interface.INOP. :yep: I can man AA guns w/crew through the engine order telegraph interface,but he is stuck in the slot. That would be the FLAC BUG slot:oops: . How do I move crewman ? also is FLAC BUG,for.,or aft. ?:hmm:

Thanx for the compliments.

An small Bugfix with english named ships and some more english parts will follow soon.
This Bugfix also contents more harbourtraffic in the US-Navalbases.
Sorry that i have forget to translate some things.
Iam very busy in this time cause i got an new job where i have to work 55 hours in a week.

But i hope that you all can live another 1-2 weeks with some german parts in FOTRS until it is fixed.

installing FOTRS
 
well, I did it...

I uninstalled sh4 from the pc (that is, I removed via uninstall), erased the sh4 folder in the my documents, checked to see all removed in the registry (but I didnt touch the other copies I had stashed all over the hard disks)

rebooted, installed sh4, new reboot, made a run of the program and then I found I didnt have patch 1.4... downloaded that. installed it. once more reboot, now I made two copies of the sh4 ver1.4 folder..... ran multish4 and jgsme on them and installded FOTRS on one of them, keep the other as a clean v1.4 install.

made a quick run over pearl, looks nice.

tonight i will put UBM back in the main program files.

one other thing... all the installs copied of op mosun, tmo+rsrd etc are fully functional.... thank God.

will give FOTRS another try.. for first mission Im going to ::::::::::: and :::::::::: in ::::::::::: soory, why ruin the surprise.:yep:

CTD. in-range agent insertion Penang,Malay.
 
Even with surface radar off,I'm still getting radar contacts.A patrol vessel not yet in visual range appears as radar contact. Then game must close (error) Can't get within Penang visual range ? This is agent insertion mission Penang CTD. Any thoughts:huh:

AOTD_MadMax,when you get the time investagate please.:hmm: Thought;I am getting .tga shape not found due to deleting the .dds dot files in sea/ship file.So I'm thinking,if I could ID.ship I could import correct files. Range to contact 10 NM,clear as a bell weather,no visual. I AM AWARE,there are 3 merchants,& another patrol vessel in harbor.But no radar contact when must close:damn:

Since FOTRS is based off TMO, those names are the various zones of the ocean. I'm not exactly sure what the names are for, but I like them. That file path in the dialog box is the location where your screenshots are placed. It is quite common for that to be there, although sometimes it may not appear.

Various code names assigned to the map by US forces for encryption purposes.
Similar to the way the Kriegsmarine map is divided up in SH III.

One hell of a lot of hard work has gone into this, and i thank the modders.:up: .Now for the weak points I.M.H.O... No crew rank for anybody below chief, minus key will not stop the engines,compass is way to big it blocks off part of the torpedo panel,no sound of the torpedo doors opening, no tails. Sub marker does not show up in game play even after being deleted, and continous and dashed lines appear with them being deleted..:nope: Irritating little S.O.B. aren't i?? Any ideas on how to fix all of the above??

dude dont play with "tails" on. You will be much happier without them.

FORS.is based on TMO.,So reversing Procedures,will work similarly,as outlined in Duci's read-me. I have found that the Sea folder,is difficult to remove .dds_dot files,because .tga files,are missing for new ships installed in Sea folder.The mod CTD.because these files aren't found. AOTD Madmax,is tied-up,but promised to get back to work in weeks to come,so hopefully:rock:

Nvidea 8800GTX Help For Those who may Need it
 
I installed FRS. I run a BFG 8800GTX w/768 Video RAM and for the life of me I could not keep the game running even after I tried ALL nvidea drivers right up to the MOST current 178!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I went back and installed nhancer and set it up according to the notes in that other thread about nvidea problems:

iam very busy in this days with my new job so it took a little time to finish the Bugfix for the english FOTRS-Version.
