Oh, I'm DEFINITELY going to give this mod a try, since it's RSRDC-compatible! Cheers guys!
|
UPDATE:
Have uploaded ASW_TM_Overhaul 4.0_BETA. This is a beta simply because I have not tested it, but it looks fine and I do not expect trouble. IF you have any problems, simply post here and it will be fixed asap. NOTE: You will NOT lose any TM functionality. As usual, apply directly after the mod it was designed for, and say yes to overwrite files. EDIT: 4.0b BETA is up due to some small accuracy fixes. |
A note to those who use RSRDC AND SCAF for RSRDC. There's a couple of things you need to do before you activate ASW for RSRDC:
1. Browse to the ASW_RSRDC_310_4.0\Data\Sea\NCVS_Chitose folder 2. Open NCVS_Chitose.cfg with Notepad 3. Change Mast=32 to Mast=26.08 4. Close Notepad, save when prompted 5. Browse to the ASW_RSRDC_310_4.0\Data\Sea\NCVS_Taiyo folder 6. Open NCVS_Taiyo.cfg with Notepad 7. Change Mast=16 to Mast=15.29 8. Close Notepad, save when prompted That's it. You can now activate this mod AFTER RSRDC and SCAF for RSRDC. |
Ahh, good spotting Beast :yep:
Excuse my ignorance, what is SCAF? I looked in the files, and that value is set in RSRDC. So changing it at my end is of no use before it is downloaded. Thanks beast, feedback is always better than silence. |
Don't worry, the value you have entered is correct, but SCAF changes all the mast height values. Hence the need for a quick fix for users of RSRDC and SCAF for RSRDC.
SCAF stands for Ship_Centered_Accuracy_Fix. A must-have mod if you're using manual targeting. More information and link to the mod here. I hope I'll be able to get a new PSU today and play around with your mod installed. What's the use of being among the first who expressed interest in this mod and not playing it? ;) |
OK, over the next few days, all of the ASW versions in this thread will recieve what may be a final update for a while. Most of our goals have been achieved bar one or two. The update to be introduced to all versions of ASW will be a visual sensor that will allow aircraft to give you hell at a given depth. Naturally we had not been inclined to reveal the efficiency of said viusal aids already in use in ASW, due to the fact it would influence a players reactions.
The truth of visual aids was already presented to us by several well known modders here, but sheer pig-headedness has restrained the initiation of said facts. Now it must be recognised as the only way for the foreseeable future to go. This will, IMO, improve the challenge of the ASW MOD by a large margin. Thanks to all of you who have used ASW to this point, your continued silence must mean it delivers on some level :rotfl: |

ETA: Rest assured, once I've tried this mod you'll hear from me. I'm Greek, which means I'm pretty vocal! :D |
Yea, there's nothing quite like trying to sneak into Kure Harbor only to be spotted by Val Dive bombers in shallow water and forced into a simultaneious gunbattle with patrol gunboats and dive bombers. I love it!
Great job guys, will have to wait until the weekend to try out the TM Overhaul version. Can't wait  |
Ok, I loaded ASW and in 3 patrols no aircraft sightings. In the 4th patrol got one on the west coast of Borneo at 1735hrs. Just fine by me.:yep: BTW I still have the COMSUBWESPAC airstrike mod on the listing shall I take this off? It seems this helps the numerous night attacks in TM.

Do NOT use airstrike MODS with ASW. If you feel the frequency is to high or low in ASW, see the first post in this thread, it will explain an easy way to adjust this to the users preference. It's as simple as using notepad. Remove that airstrike mod of yours Davy, then get back to me with your results. PM if preffered. 5.0 is now being implemented in the first post in this thread. The advantages of this update are the new 'eyes' of enemy aircraft. A LOT of testing went into final call on the exact figures used on this sensor. The upside of this addition, means the player wil finally get a realistic air attack, with fast dives being more critical when aircraft are detected. This, combined with the radar entry dates, should set a good flow for the campaign. After questions posed, it is to be noted that despite this MOD being 1.5 compatable, it has little to no impact on the new U-boat campaign. The air layer in the U-boat add-on is a standalone air layer that is not implemented in the pacific. The only effects this will have on that campaign that I can think of, is the correct aircraft speeds on pre-existing aircraft and the ranges of said aircraft. ASW uses it's own aircraft and only enemy carrier formations and scripted air events, carry original aircraft inventories. Also, please remember, if the AirCraft Frequency is not to your liking, instructions are in the first post for an easy way to tweak this with notepad. |
Nice! New version! Seems I downloaded the wrong version for RSRDC the other day (grabbed the one for RSRDC for Add-on)
Aaaaand now I see there are even more ships with altered .cfg's that have to be remedied for use with SCAF. Yay! :D Time to break out Winmerge and post what values have to be changed for ASW to work fine along with SCAF. Be back soon ;) ETA: Ok, here's the list: NCV_Hiryu.cfg: Mast=15.42 NCV_Hiyo.cfg: Mast=46.38 NCV_Shokaku.cfg: Mast=10.17 NCV_Taiho.cfg: Mast=13.58 NCVE_Taiyo.cfg: Mast=15.29 NCVS_Chitose.cfg: Mast=26.08 Remember, these are changes that have to be done to the .cfg files of the ASW Mod before you activate it. I've posted step-by-step instructions a few posts up. Also remember, the correct activation order is: RSRDC v300 and patch 3 for RSRDC, then SCAF_4_RSRDC_v300, and ASW_RSRDC_v300_5.0 last. ETA#2: May I just say, I'm dying to see what changes you've made to the plane's sensors! ETA#3: Aha...I see...yes, I see! (laughs evilly). |
SCAF is now the candidate for ASW_GLOBAL. Thanks CapnScurvy for your information :D
New Version 6.0_STANDARD for 1.5 patch is now available. New Version 6.0_STANDARD for 1.4 patch is now available. New Version 6.0_RSRDC_V350 for 1.4 patch is now available. New Version 6.0b_OverHauled for 1.5 patch is now available. New Version 6.0_RSRD_355 for 1.5 patch is now available. These are a BETA. Reason simply because it is such a large upgrade in terms of file changes. All Aircraft will have consistent detection now. Version 5.0 had all the good historic timelines and balances, and it introduced a new but rough/poor detection system. 6.0 has a pretty clean setup by comparison, detection by aircraft should be enjoyable. This has all the nuts and bolts of ASW_GLOBAL aside from the missing Indian Ocean content. SCAF is not in this edition, sorry :88) But I did reduce the shared ship folders with RSRD to one entry only, TMO shares none ;) for ease of entry DrBeast. If no bug reports are recieved, I will just chop the 'BETA' off the file header. There are no plans for further upgrades in the pacific at this point. This update was mainly to reward those who have been kind enough to give this MOD a go and have been encouraging me, either through silent download or vocal support. EDIT: for those who may have downloaded the TMO 6.0 version, please upload the new 6.0b as there was two .sim conflicts in the H6K and H8K. Thanks, Akbar |
Cheers mate! Don't worry about the SCAF entries...changing them is a breeze with a lovely tool such as Winmerge. Expect feedback after I've assembled my new rig sometime next week.

Is it possible to use this mod with RSRDC_TMOv15_V371?
J.J. |
I was wondering the same thing since I will be using TMO 1.5 AND RSRDC_TMOv15_V371. I'd like to take this ASW mod for a spin.
|
Thats a good question. Modding a mod made for a mod. Since the files used are limited in thier scope, it probably would not be that hard.
No ETA on this, but it will be in the pipeline. EDIT: New 7.0 Version available for RSRD and TMO 1.5 patch. Both of these versions have a compressed library and have the RSRD base placement incorporated. After playing a quick round of this in game, it seems the aircraft activity may be a bit high for the timid. Changing the frequency to a 'Logical Step' value of 40 is recommended for those who desire less aircraft contact (instructions for this are in post 1 of this thread). The overall frequency increase is because mainly of the increase in number of IJ bases. None of these bases wil be removed in future versions. Future versions will have a reduced air frequency to compensate. |
Excellent work Akbar and team,
Just upgraded to v1.5 and wanted to add my voice to using this Air layer mod for RSRDC_TMOv15_V371 if it's not too much trouble. Really appreciate the effort you guys are putting into this sim, it literally gets better every week. |
Outstanding.....takin this baby for a spin
|
There seems to be much less planes in 6.0 compared to 5.0. And I don't mean the frequency in which they appear, I mean the actual files. How come? Woah...hold the train...there's a version 7 out?! Sorry, missed that part, going to the 1st post to check
ETA: Neeeevermind, it's for 1.5. Bleh! (rummages through his empty wallet) |

If there is a particular 1.4 version you need, just post it here. I will make one up for you. The only real changes in 7.0 are.... the airfield placement, it now uses RSRD airbase positions and names, but the planes and types of airfields are all ASW. The other change, is I compressed the Library from 7 to 4 files and added 1 bomb type (100kg). (and there are new radar sets for American Aircraft in there, but they are not set or used yet) |
