OK, don't this actually happened . . . and I doubt that it did . . . but did anything like Operation Petticoat actually occur? I mean with the Pink Boat?

The paint would oxidize and look pink. It also happened on the aircraft. There was a notable P40 that turned pink from the oxidized paint. |

Back to topic: MS9 "All black" was actually the standard camouflage at the start of the war http://www.shipcamouflage.com/measure_9.htm, or alternatively MS 10 http://www.shipcamouflage.com/measure_10.htmwhile later they apparently found out that a combination of lighter grey in the sides with darker grey above was better:up:

Here's the USS Cod (Gato class with the cutdown tower) in Cleveland, Ohio, pics taken by me. I also believe she is the only fleetboat left that has a 100% working TDC. You can see the gray paint and the top deck is painted black. I remember that the deck was very hot the day I took the shots due to the sun beating down on it all day.
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/599/img2851sb9.jpg Here is a closeup of the tower with all the awards and ships sunk, junks sunk, and a martini glass for saving a dutch submarine crew. I didn't feel like rotating the image, sorry. http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/8610/img2847yb0.jpg |
The USS Cod is a museum piece for sure. She is in great shape!

I would say the best. She's completely mint and even the diesels work if they chose to run them. I suppose the fact it sits fresh water helps. If you go you have to buy the pin they sell. It has the logo of the skull with the torpedo smashing through it.

I don't know if I'll ever get to visit the US, but if I do, I won't have any problems figuring out what to do... :|\\

Unfortunately my journey in life has landed me in Jacksonville FLA. It'll have to be a 3 day weekend and a flight to Baltimore if I'm to take that offer. :damn: |
