Can't wait,,Nope,, can't do it Nope
I want to be the first on my block to rip the guts out of the Kongo, Or Fuso with a spread of 6 torpedos!
Rip them,, mash them,, smash them, trash them. :x :x |
Lol. While I agree with your sentiments I'll probably go out and buy a copy as soon as I can after it's on the shelves.
One thing that I say to console myself - it can't be that buggy, since it's based on the SH3 engine, so it's not like it's completely new. |
You can't enjoy the thrill of watching the sim going through incremental changes with patches and mods if you hold off. Kinda like getting a new game every few weeks . ;)

Wait????:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You've got to be kidding!!! I think that there will be bugs, but far less than SH3. I'm just hanging out untill my is delivered.
P.S. I ordered the Collector's edition, but I'm in the running to win a copy of the delux edition. The Online shop I pre-ordered from is giving two copies of the DE away to anyone who purchase's a copy of SH4. |
No, I'm not going to wait. I'm certainly not going to wait TWO YEARS. :rotfl:
|
Unfortunately I am going to be forced to wait. I am leaving Japan permanently at the end of this month and my computer and all my belongings will be loaded onto a ship for transport. This means no SH4.
Oh well, hopefully by the time I'm all setup again some initial bugs will have been ironed out with a patch, there'll be a few improvements in the form of mods and you good folks here at sumsim will have written up several handing guides to help me terrorise the Emperor's navy with greater efficiency. ________ Asian live |
waiting is futile!
buyt it! buy it buy it buy it! |
Ubisoft loves the type of players who pre-order or run out and buy their games soon after the release due to impatience or ignorance. This is the reason they (and other software compaines) can get away with releasing buggy, half-finished games and then release a few patches later. Because a lot of players will buy no matter what. They calculate their profits based on the number of people who run out and buy it without waiting or doing any research about the game's problems. I think this would equal maybe 95% of their customers. I'm getting the popcorn ready and the beer chilled to read all of the problems and complaints regarding SH4 once it's released. Anyone remember all the complaints and whining after the buggy, unfinished SH3 release? Now that was entertainment. In other words, I'm waiting. Patience, young Grasshopper, patience. :arrgh!:

Interesting perspective you have there. |

You made a blanket and rather arrogant statement that anyone who purchases SH4 as soon as it's released is either ignorant, impatient or both. I'm suggesting that people who don't purchase SH4 according to your timeline aren't necessarily either of these. Something for you to consider. |

The irony is that if enthusatic subsimmers hadn't purchased SH3 upon release despite all it's flaws there probably wouldn't be a SH4. Modders do wonderful things. But I've yet to see one produce a commercially successful submarine simulation from scratch. I also think the idea of a bug-free flawless game upon release is a chimera at best, given how complicated they're getting. There aren't a lot of companies developing submarine simulations, so Ubi gets my support by default.

I'm a realist. SH4 will undoubtedly contain bugs. So what? SH3 had bugs on release but we lived (and continue to live, despite its still failings and frustrations). It's not like SH4 is a full OS like Vista - that ain't getting anywhere near my computer until at least SP1!
Indeed though, if I waited for "bug free" versions of everything I wanted, then my computer would only contain my products. :rotfl: Nah, the worst thing with SH4 is that if it is totally unplayable (highly unlikely), then it just sits untouched on my HD until the first patch comes out and then I try again. No dramas - I still have my SH3 to tide me over. Anyway, I have faith that the modders will see us through 1.1...1.2...1.3... I would also like to think that the more people who buy SH4 on release will mean the more bugs that will be found will mean the more inclusive the first patch will be.
